How did you do it? Are all of these machines owned and operated by you or are they on loan? How much did startup costs run?

i teamed up with a friend, weve been in buisness importing and selling cabs for about a year now (sort of like a swedish killercabs), everything is bought and paid for :buttrock:

basically it is the fruit of atleast a year of VERY hard work and eating lots of potnoodles  , hard to put a sum too it but i can tell you just the DDR/PIU machines are proboably around $25K alone.

all of the games playing in the cabs are from my personal collection so i dont buy doubles of anything and i dont have the need to have that many games at home since i can play or change them whenever i want (i still have a cab at home).

sweden has very strict gambling laws which is why arcades are pretty much gone and replaced by fruit/poker machines thesedays (i HATE fruit machines), which is also why all the games are set to freeplay.
instead you pay an entry fee and play whatever you like for aslong as you like, which actually is alot cheaper for all the people visiting and it also makes people try new games that they might not have played otherwise (im a big shmup fan myself so i have quite alot of shmups, not a very popular genre othewise), call me crazy but i get a real kick out of people going "wow this game f***ing rocks!" while playing Progear or Dimahoo for the first time....

im not in it to get rich (that really isnt possible anymore), aslong as it somewhat pays for itself im happy, this is still my hobby that i just stepped up a bit, i cant quit my dayjob or anything.

Just amazing.
I don't like the look of those sticks on the CPS2 dedicated cabs.

dont diss the sticks till youve tried them ;)

they are actually excellent sticks, tho maybe a little too rigid for shmups (excellent for hectic VS beu battles tho), which is why im going to replace some of them with seimitsu sticks.. someday..

the arcade is still verymuch a work in progress, lots more machines to come and lots more games, also there is all the other stuff like artwork on the walls and proper lighting etc etc...

congrats! Very cool and I am impressed with the whole "selling cabs to make money to start an arcade." Now all you need is a couple of big ass bouncers, a full bar, and topless waitresses :)

WOW!!!

Everyone of those machines look to be in top condition, and they're pretty much all my favorite games.

Are you renting or do you own the room/building?

How is percussion freaks? I'm playing Taiko Drum Master and it's kicking my ass, so I bet this would make me cry.

How many DDR type games do you have? It looks to be a few.

Now days, arcade operators need to have at least a couple of those
idiotic dancing things in order to make some money, if at all.

How's the arcade scene in your area btw?

nice!

The whoel setup looks great. I don't care what the other say, those sticks on the CPS2 cabs look neat.

Wow. A Pump, a DDR Ex, and I'm guessing the other machine next to the pump is a Dancing Stage Euro?

I can go play turkey hunting, DDR, or Intial D. Pretty fun huh?

If I'm feeling really adventurous I can go down to Chuck E Cheese's and play World Series Baseball! The people there look at you funny when you go in there without any kids...

thats true, the "music" games are by far the most popular, i also have a beatmania machine coming soon.

i have 1 stepmania (with thousands of songs, all the pros get to make their own if they like), 1 DDR (forgot which version :P), and PIU exceed.
ive never been much for dancing games but PIU isreally excellent, heavymetal dancing :buttrock: and its not as static as DDR is.. i suck at all of them but some kids here are really amazing

thanx for all the positive comments :) needless to say if anyone ever visits sweden youre welcome to try it out :D

Who or where do you import the cabs from? What you have done is something I've had in my mind for about a year now. This interests me very much. You are living my dream. Good job!

i can tell you straight up that i am VERY interested, pleaselet me know what you have :)

the guy posting at killercabs forum is my friend chris that i started it with :) (i dont really like that forum, its all "wow you must have $$$ coming out the wazoo, can i have some" )

as far as buying cabs we buy most from coinopexpress, bought so much thru them now that i've worked up a healthy discount ;)
i buy the games just like everyone else, scour ebay/yahoo.jp, trading with other collectors etc etc...

eddie, like all dreams the hard part is actually getting over that barrier and just do it, i know, ive been planning something like this for 3-4years now :P
like i said its alot of hard work and it will cost you every penny for quite some time to come (especially if you get into it alone), but when you get to where im at now it is REALLY worth it!! :multi_co:

Wow, that's quite an impressive setup. What are all the games in your line up since I can't really make out all the games in Capcom cabinets? I'm a bit confused about your arcade. Are these games at your residence or are you leasing a retail space? BTW, it looks like you need to update your list of "what's in your collection". :D

I've also been toying with the idea of setting up a portion of my 70 or 80 arcade games. Right now about 70% of my collection is in storage so they aren't really playable at the moment. Of course I don't have that many recent titles like you do sven666. I'm focused mostly on 80s classic games but I do have some games from the early/mid 90s game. The problem is that around here space is a premium. Unless I have another source of income or win the lottery it won't happen anytime soon. :crying:
