Ok. I'm hoping there is someone here who has some knowledge about Cable Modems and Routers.

1) I am looking to buy a Cable Modem. I am currently leasing one from my cable company and since I plan on keeping this connection for a long time I feel it would be more cost efficient to purchase my own. Which is the best Modem (performance wise) to pick up? Cost is irrelevant.

2) I am currently running my DS online through the Nintendo WiFi USB adapter. I just bought a XBOX 360 and I own a PSP so I want to be able to run those online also. What would be the best router to purchase? I noticed when I was in Best Buy that some of the routers had a letter next to what I think may have been the model or revision number (a,b or g ?? or something to that effect)Once again, cost is irrelevant.... just looking for the something that will give me optimal performance.

I dont know if you need this information but here is what I have.

Windows XP
AMD 2100+ XP processor
3Mbps Cable Connection
looking to run the following through router

PC
PSP
Xbox 360
PS2
NGC

Any help that can be provided will be greatly appreciated.

With a three meg pipe, there's really not much you really should worry about in terms of modems. I used to work tech support for Cox, and the only modem I can think of that had problems was the Terayon modems. If you really need a recommendation, i'd recommend a MOtorola Surfboard 5120.

I second this recommendation.

Pick up a Netgear router to go with it - they make quality stuff. And don't go wireless with your systems unless you have to.

Thanks to all of you guys for the help. I am looking to pick this stuff up next week. I hope someplace in my area has the modem in stock without me having to preorder.
