Probably not a big deal to some of you, but I was recently at Disneyland with my family, and the Arcade in Tomorrowland had an MVS Mini Cab. It had a 2 Slot. It was playing Spinmaster and Bust a Move. The picture doesn't do it justice. Except for the Control Panel, the Cab was in great shape. It has a metal Property of Namco stamp on the side of it. The picture was so clean, I haven't seen a monitor look that good in any MVS Cab in any arcade. Well anyways, I've never seen one up close and personal, I wanted to prop it up on my back and haul it away. :drool_2:

Yep, that has been there pretty much as long as I remember. I recall it having Fatal Fury 2 at one point when FF2 was new. What I miss is in Vegas at the Luxor Hotel Casino there use to be a row of MVS minis (at least 6 of them). This was before Sega Gameworks opened across the street so the Sega City was the hot arcade to go to. How times have changed :(

The last time I was at Disney (couple of years ago), I didn't go into the arcade. I missed it.

Aproximatly, what time peroid are you talking about? I remember the Luxor having several 5' big-reds, with a single four slotter still in use today but until recent years, the Luxor arcade has been a Sega Arcade (that's why they had that 1/4 scale Temjin pharoh custom from Virtual On over the entrance and tokens with Sonic on them).

On the other hand, a couple of years back I did see a 4' "shorty" 2-slotter at the Fiesta on the Rancho Strip.

Ah yes! It's the mini MVS in the back of the Starcade. I've battled it out in Puzzle Bobble with a buddy of mine many times on it. Of course, being 6'3" doesn't really help much with that thing, so I have to kneel down to play (which is quite a strange sight to most people!).

It's the only mini MVS cab I've ever seen in an arcade.

Played on that cab the last 3 or 4 trips to Disney (at least 1 per year)

Dang, I must have missed it. I was at Disneyland last summer and all I remember seeing were a bunch of starwars games and a DDR machine when I walked through after Space Mountain. I wasn't really paying attention. I'll keep that in mind next time I'm there.

This was well over 10 years ago before the E3 show even existed and the annual show of new console games was still attached to the CES show. I meant to say that the arcade in the Luxor was the only Sega arcade in Vegas at the time. They would have the best games there but ever since Sega opened Gameworks across the street, the Luxor's arcade had gone way downhill.

I might have to check out that mini down in Disneyland, when I go to Cali for Spring break.

I was at gameworks a couple of years ago in Vegas and thought it was cool but it seemed it got smaller or somthing than a couple of years before. Maybe it was just me.

Anyways, nice find. It reminds me of a couple of months ago when I found a mint MVS-2-25 cab at my local restaurant. Cool thing about it is that I found out the guy that owns it is a friend of my bros, still wont sell it to me though

What happened to Las Vegas Gameworks should be concidered a crime. It keeps getting worse and worse every time I go in there. It's all gimmick gun games racers and crapper VR stuff. Ladt time I checked, they had hardly any fighting games, only one shooter (Raiden Fighters) and all credits start at $.75US, even for the classic games.

Terrible shame, really. I had a friend who worked there for the first two years after they opened. My friend told me: in the beginning they had a kick-ass arcade manager. He really knew his shit, a gamer who loved his work. Had excelent taste in games and made sure he kept the machines were in top condition. Unfortunately, his bosses were assholes who kept pressuring him to get whatever flavor-of-the-month bullshit gimmick game rather than something decent and fun. He stuck with it, while going back-and-forth with the management until either he got fed up with their shit and quit or they shitcanned him (I can't remember which) and they replaced him with a brainless yes-man. LV Gameworks has been in a downward sprial ever since.

Nowadays it's a decent place to play pool (the drinks are expensive, though) and you can do indoor rock climbing but forget it if you're a gamer.

The GW near my house used to have this huge front projection screen that they hooked up various fighting games too. The video quality was not great of course but it was fun when they had MVC2. Now they have some Tekken game witch i'm not a fan of. They also have a one slot with metal slug 5(or maybe just a ms5 pcb i heard they made those? idk?) I dont' go there anymore though after they "upgraded" a lot of their machines and got rid of the old ones.

Just out of curiousity, has anyone tried to "pimp" out one of these mini cabs, with a 4 slot, custom marquee, etc.? What do you guys think would be the max monitor size in one of these? think a 19" would fit? I so want to play one of these.

A 19" monitor should fit, Trieu mentioned in one of his posts there used to be a mini cab with one at the SNK USA office. There's a lot of free space where the monitor sits.

Ah, Memories...

but dreams do come true... sometimes.

For the record, on that last monitor question:

The internal dimensions for the monitor space in an un-modified MVS-mini are 12.5"H x 19.5"W x 15"D

According to Wells-Gardner spec sheets 19" monitors need 15.25"H x 18.125"W x 18.25"D

You could possibly mod the insides of a Mini to cram a 19" monitor in, but I wouldn't risk it.
