I have a USA version of Street Fighter 3: 3rd strike, and I just came to realize that there is a Japan, USA, and Asia version of the game. Is anything missing from the game in the USA version?

Also, when I use the Q-sound stereo out on the PCB I get garbled sound out of the right speaker, but the sound works fine through mono jamma. Is this a problem with the game rom chips, or can I just replace the PCB itself? Also I have never changed the battery on my board. Which part of the board actually commits suicide? If this ever happens, can I just buy a new board and swap over the cartridge and dimms to a new board and have it work again? Will powering up the board frequently keep it from commiting suicide, or make it commit suicide faster?

The asian version has most voices missing, no idea about the USA one.

The suicide battery is in the game cart, if it dies that cart is death and it will no longer work, the rest of the board is not affected. If it works like the CPS2 ones, having the board powered on will help to make it last longer, as the battery is not used while it is powered on, that's why you need to swap it with the power on before it runs out.

i also have a question.. what is the difference between the CDrom type and the RAM cart type CPS3 PCB?

i was recently offered 2 different kits (one RAM cart version and one CDrom version) from a japanese company, they said each version was good to go without any extras??

never heard of two different types before, is it possible the CDversion is without suicide battery?

CD version consists of the data CD and the encryption cart... Can't get away from the cart no matter what. :(

Please don't leave it on like that, it wont make it last longer either. Many boards have died this way, try to replace it asap.

They have kits? I thought they had only carts...

The cart I got from them is the Asia version, just so people know... ;)

so the Cart version is just a RAM cart instead of a CD ?

Yes, one has the CD-ROM drive and the other doesn't. I havn't read good things about the CART ONLY kits. If you lose the data, you are fucked and cannot re-load it. Avoid.

1. No major differences between USA and JP other than language.
2. The battery is in the security cartridge, when it dies, the game will no longer run. You cannot just go buy another cartridge. They are almost impossible to find.
3. Powering the board on keeps the battery from being used, but does NOT recharge the battery or anything. Your battery IS going to die. The only way powering the board on is going to save you, is if you leave it on like an Arcade. AKA almost all day, every day.
4. For Q-Sound you have to use the RCA jacks on front and change it to Q-SOUND in the test menu. I doubt there is anything wrong with your PCB.

Anyway, change your battery ASAP.
