Lik-sang.com

Has a quantity discount if you buy 5+... Fairly healthy too, $15.50 instead of $19.99.

I think play asia even has the Neo Pad 2 for the PS2.

Does anyone know what the button layouts are with these? I have 2 MAS systems sticks with PS2 and Gamecube support and I'd love to use them on the new MVS system I got for christmas. The button layouts on my sticks are kinda weird though. I would need it to be...

L2 = A
L1 = B
[] = C
/\ = D

I dont' think this is gonna happen but I can hope.

PS1/PS2 to Neo Geo Adapter Layout

X = A
O = B
Square = C
Triangle = D

The layout works really well with Arcade Sticks and Fighter Pads. When I play Baseball Stars 2 I use a PS2 Saturn Pad and it works well. Feels better than using an actual Sony Dual Shock.

Thanks for the info. Any support for the shoulder buttons?

They are used for turbo functions. Not sure if all four of them are for turbo. The bad thing is, you have to hold down a shoulder button to utilize turbo. You can't just press it once to activate turbo. If you are able to get your hands on one, it will come with a small instruction with the button layout. I'm at work, or else I would go get my copy and give you the full layout.

I'm pretty sure this is the manufacturer's web site. There's a link to the PDF manual on it.

Thanks for the info and the links guys.

I'd be interested in making one but I need to go in the reverse direction of that link you posted idosk8. That allows a neo-geo controller on other systems. I need a PS2 controller on a neo-geo. Any got any links or advice on how to do make something like that?

No ideas eh?

Anybody tried taking apart one of the adapters? I'm wondering If I could re-wire one of those to rework the buttons. A $20 adapter is less than a $50 neo controller.

Oh, I'm sure you could do that. Really, you wouldn't even need to get inside the adapter. Just build an adapter with DB15 ins and outs and reroute the button wires to where you want them.

You'd still be limited to the 4 face buttons, start, and select like that, though.

The problem with getting more advanced than that is that the PS controllers use a serial stream to communicate with the system so you have to decode it.

There's more information on Gamesx.

I'd love to see schematics for this -- and figure out if it's possible to support more than 4 buttons. (Can we say supergn controllers? I knew we could.)

That'd be only for my lame friends, though: 'I'm used to playing on a controller, I can't use a joystick, etc.'

Me+joystick & opponont+ps2 controller = mad ownage at SSVS!!

I'm making two gross assumptions here, which may or may not be accurate, but I believe they are since it'd be the easiest and cheapest way to make this adapter:

1) The adapter is using some sort of IC/PIC that is decoding each of the PSX's controller buttons into a seperate line.

2) The adapter is using some sort of microrelay to connect each of the button lines to ground on the Neo side.

For those who don't know, unless I've been vastly misinformed, the Neo uses a 'pull signal line to ground' method for controller signaling - negative logic.

The PSX uses a multiplexed serial line to transmit controller data - this is by necessity a positive logic system.

You'd need a relay or equivelant device to connect the signal line to the ground to emulate the proper controller signal for the Neo. Hence the relays.

I doubt that there would be extra relays inside the adapter, it'd be wasteful. A Neo would only ever use 10 (4x directions, 6x buttons). In-between the decoder logic and the relays, you might be able to swap say the select button and L1 or whatever would work better, but I bet you'll be stuck with those 10 buttons forever on this device.

Well, it'd be neat if i could use my ps2 sticks on a super gun with out hacking up my HRAP.
