Well, I just got done with my Naomi Universal 6-button panel. Since a new 2P/6B panel is too costly, I decided to use a Sega 2-button panel to start from since it was only $15. I started by sealing all of the button holes w/ fiberglass and sanded it. Next, I drilled 12-30mm holes for the player buttons and 2-24mm holes for the start buttons. Finally, I applied bondo to any cracks that resulted from the drilling and sanded it to a smooth finish. I don't have any spare buttons to install into the panel but I have placed it next to my New Astro City 2P/6B panel for a comparison. The Sega 2-button panel is designed for a Happs style joystick so I will have to later fabricate a joystick panel mount to allow it use Sanwa joysticks. As always, comments and questions are welcomed.

Nice job on the custom panel!
My New Astro City CP has a dodgy 2p button setup and has had coke or something similar spilt on it and has rusted parts of the metal layer of the CP.
I'll probably end up buying a Blast City panel to replace it as they look pretty good and the button alighnment is perfect.

AWESOME

I thought about doing the same thing but in the end I decided to go with 2 agetecs as I got a great deal on them for my supergun project. I just fitted 2 sanwa flash sticks in there and I'm filling up[ the vmu slot on the front with goop before I cover the metal panel with art from kinkos (printed on laminated adhesive) But I was seriously going to buy one of those for 15 and drill the extra holes. One question, why you move the 2 24mm buttons, seems they were fine where they were before. Good shit.

thchardcore: The previous 2 start button holes were 29mm so only standard american buttons like Happs would fit inside. I wanted to keep the look of a JPN panel so I elected to cover those holes up and redrill them to 24mm so that I can use JPN start buttons.

Thanks for the feedback guys.

Here are some additional pics. The new panel is placed over and next to the existing Naomi Universal 2P/2B panel that it will be replacing. You can easily see the change in button layout.

I'm interested in buying a 2P 6 button repro panel for my Blast City Cab. I tried making one, but it didn't turn out too great.

Ford, can you give me some contact info and estimated price for a repro alloy panel from this guy? And if anyone else has any info on where to get just the control panel metal insert replacement, it would be much appreciated. I already have a control panel and buttons. I just don't want to have to buy a whole new control panel box, which seems to be the only option out there that I've found so far. TIA

meanbean, you did an excellent job! I want it. :drool_2:

Not sure if this is the same person that Ford was referring to. In a old post from Sega-Naomi.com forum, it showed Keith Elliott as the person who was attempting to make some 2P/6P penals. The post stated a tentative cost of $45 + shipping. Don't know if he ever made any extras for sale. Here is a link to his website showing the penal and the original post.

Thanks again for all of the feedback.
