I have completed my modifications to my recently aquired New Astro City Cab. All of the rust on the inside of the control panel and in between the panel overlay has been sanded off. I have drilled out all of the existing locks and replaced them with new 7/8" locks. The locking bars were missing on the control panel locks so I had to fabricate 2 new locking bars in order to lock down the control panel. The panel on the back of the cab was missing as well so a new one was fabricated and painted white to match the exterior of the cab. Six additional 30mm holes were drilled in the control panel to create the 6 button layout for each player. The cab has been rewired with a CPS2 kick harness and for the Atomiswave 5-button layout. All of the harness wiring has been tied off for presentation. The marquee light has been replaced and the cabinet has received a good cleaning inside and out in order to remove tons of dust, 2 dead spiders and their webs, numerous misc screws and several 100 yen pieces. I am still waiting on my replacement Sanwa joysticks and buttons. In the meantime, I have reconditioned the existing joysticks and temporarly installed some generic buttons. Below are some before and after shots of my New Astro City cab.

The buttons are temporary and new Sanwa joysticks and buttons have already been order and in transit. I have never heard of that game. Its not a suprise since my experience with Taito F3 hardware has been limited.

lachlan: The audio in and out port in the Astro are molex type and not rca. Look at the bottom before pic and you can see the yellow and red molex connections.

Thanks again for everyone's feedback.

Very nice work. I think I saw that cab on ebay (those before pics look very familiar). What did you do with the F3 board?

Dave_K.: The Taito F3 board has been placed in storage for now. If you are interested, make me an offer and I will consider it. The game that is installed is a anime type music trivia game called Kirameki Star Road.

Thanks again for everyone's feedback.

Have you heard of Land Maker for the Taito F3? It looks pretty cool but I'm sure it's hard to come by.

Land Maker is an excellent game, very unique with quite nice graphics and addictive gameplay. I too believe it's one of the more rare F-3 titles. I've only seen it for sale once and that was a couple years ago on ebay, 12 F-3 game boards + 1 universal mother board, one of the best auctions I've ever won :glee:

I have received my Sanwa joysticks and buttons today from Excellent Com. I am very pleased with how well they packed my items and will continue to purchase from them in the future. I have installed the new Sanwa joysticks and buttons and replaced the coin entry cover. Here are some pics of the 100% completed New Astro City restoration. I can now enjoy some matches of SFA3 as it should be played.

Excellent Com are great to deal with, awesome cummunication and fast shipment.

Awesome sticks and buttons.
I look at my cab and then look at other Astro City's and I see That "Instruction Space" art is missing from mine, is it part of the plastic or just paper?

The instruction sheets come with the PCB kits themselves.

My cab had a piece of rectangular glass or plastic which covered the instruction card/overlay.

Can someone measure the instruction sheet/move list for me? I'm making a standalone joystick box based on the Astro/Blast/Net City panels and I would like to include the move list box.

I just need to know how long the clear plastic is between the two metal pieces and how tall it is.

lachlan: The instruction sheet is indeed a piece of paper placed under the glass.

gamejunkie: I will try and take the measurements later and post them for you.

Thanks again for all of the feedback.

gamejunkie: The measurements are 52.5cm x 7.5cm.

Thank you so much!

Hopefully I'll find somebody with a Naomi wiring harness sometime soon... $50 with a minimum order of $200 from Coinopexpress isn't the best deal in the world.

gamejunkie: You can buy the cable from Excellent Com. No minimum order with excellent customer service and packing of your item. Here is the item you need.

Cable Harness JS & JVS for Astro (600-7143-003) for USD $45

Email Joey Tang for a faster response to your order request. He is the manager over at Excellent Com. Good luck to you.
