So I purchased SamSho III. Recieved it today. I plugged it into my AES system, when I start it up, all I saw was this heavily green pixalated screen. I tried hitting the reset button. Then, the whole screen turned blue. This never happened with the other 4 AES games I had. They all load perfectly as soon as I insert it into the system.

2nd, when it does load up, and goes to the opening scene of the game, when the man starts speaking, it's this huge static of a sound instead of the voice.

When I get past that, the title screen has these weird long lines going horizontally, slowly going down as well. When I get to the character select screen, the whole colors are heavily pixalated. When I start a game, it looks like this(Sorry, this is the best I could get)

None of the other games I have did something like this. No matter how many times I reseted, took the cartridge in, and out, the result was always the same. Is this a bootleg? It looked real to me. It was complete as well. Cheers.

If you didn't already try cleaning the cart contacts with alcohol and cotton swabs. That usually get's the "static" out if the contacts are dirty.

Contacts weren't dirty at all. Just had insertion marks.

Here's an update. It works fine now. I tried testing it again to see if it fully works, but the sound was off. When the man talked, it sounded like a huge siren. It vibrated the whole tv! What the hell. It made my dog howl. I took the game out, and load it up again. Worked fine again, despite cleaning the contacts. I played to stage 2 with Hanzo, and everything seemed fine.

Oy. :oh_no:

Reading the first bit, This is the EXACT same thing that happens with my copy of '99 for the AES. I placed it in severe green pixaltion and satic noise, reset, ends up as blue screen after a bit of mess. Take it out blow a bit, try again loads up but theres a few odd noises in the intro music, the in the game sometimes it gets wierd and sticks.

I've taken the game and cleaned the contacts with just water and cotton buds. It seems to be how I insert the cart, sometimes it boots perfect first time, I play the game all the way through no problems what so ever, reset still no problems then when I take it out and try again minutes later it might be a bit sketch again? This annoyed me emmensly at first as it was one of my most expensive buys at the time and since ti was from Japan I couldn't really return it..

Never have sorted the intermitant problem out, PS all my other 20 odd AES carts work fine except now Im having problems with a specific line error in '01? Stange someone might know what it is I'll post a thread up in tech sometime soon.

Looks like a classic case of dirty contacts to me. Even if you think they're clean some carts can still be problematic. Try cleaning the cart slot on the AES as well to make sure. In the past I've used really fine wet or dry paper on stubborn carts, so you could also try that. Just make sure you clean off the dust afterwards!

Well atleast it isn't like NES carts, where, when you put the carts in and out 100+ times, you keep on getting a black, or a flashing screen.

Oh man, bad memories.

Remember that a neo•geo cart's contacts have about five times the surface area of most carts.

The chances of them being dirty is much greater than any other cartridge based software.

You sure about this statement Mr. Engineer?

Alright, I got to stage 6 until I lost my credits playing against the damn referee. My opinion?

I LOVE THIS GAME. This is first time for me playing a 2-D fighter, losing to the A.I. without getting pissed off. The reason for this is, is because the A.I. wasn't cheap, it was because it was good, and I sucked. I wanted to play more and more until I could cut their bodies in half. And I did. And how satisfying that was.

I'm bummed Jubei is missing though.

Eh. I enjoyed III more than II. It's harder, and I like that.

How many pins are in a Neo•Geo game vs. an NES game?

~200 to 56, that's about four times as many. If only one gets a bad connection, the game won't work right.

PS. To the thread author: your name is spelled incorrectly.
