Hi all.

I have the possibility of buying a Mace: The Dark Age pcb without hard disk and I was thinking about replacing it by another one with different features (20GB).
Is it possible to do this (if I can get the image) without changing any chip of the pcb?

Thanks in advance.

As long as the PCB works, then yes.

Take a blank HD, put it in your PC, then using device manager(Windows200/XP/newer) find it's logical ID number.

From there, get the CHD for MAME, and download chdman.exe It's a part of the official MAME download.

Go to the command line and type:
chdman -extract mace.chd \\.\PHYSICALDRIVEn (where n is the logical ID of your drive).

EDIT-I've fixed several PCB's using this method. I have also done backup of drives using this:
chdman -createhd \\.\PHYSICALDRIVEn imagename.chd

Thanks for the fast reply Reznor.
The board seems to be in good conditions, so the only thing that I need is the CHD file. I will try to get it from internet.

Thanks again.
