I ordered a Dell over a month ago for a Christmas/birthday present for my wife.
I also ordered a laptop bag and printer with it. I recieved the bag and printer within a couple of weeks but no laptop. About a month later I recieved an emial saying my account was going to be credited back the amount that I had spent within 30 days. I called them back and said I didnt want my money back I wanted my computer I odered and soon. They gave me a new case number and a bogus order number 4 days ago and said I would get it within 3-5 days. Nothin still no emails in the last month (except the one mentioned) and no real order numbers.

The days of great customer service from Dell have really fallen to shit. If you want any kind of service worth a damn, you have to pay a good chunk of what the computer's worth to get it, and you'll still be dealing with a call center in some third world country. My girlfriend just bought a Dell a few months ago, and I was furious with what they sent. Sure they sent the computer and such, but they don't send you backup copies of pre-installed software anymore. You either have to pay $10 to get a copy of your O/S (which is bullshit as you are entitled to a backup copy of it by right of your EULA), or pay for their shitty customer service to walk you through their new crappy system recovery. They claim you'll never need the backup cd's again. Yea bullshit, these people have no idea what it is to run a Windows machine anymore. I have yet to encounter a Windows machine more than a few years old that hasn't undergone at least one rebuild. Besides, what if I just need a driver or something small off the cd?

I remember back in the day Dell had AWESOME customer service, but that was back in the mid 90's when they actually gave a flying fuck about their customers. Now all they're concerned with is cutting every corner imaginable to undercut the competition as much as they can. I understand that they're being capitalistic business and they have a right to do so, but the line has to be drawn somewhere.

I got a refund for the total amount I spent on the order.
They claim the model I ordered sold out and was replaced, but I cant tell the difference btween the 1200 and b120. I asked them to replace it with another like or better model they said they would but it never happened. SO instead I got my money refunded. I guess i got a free printer and backpack out of the deal but my wife didnt get her christmas/birthday present and has been paying for dsl for the last two months now in hopes of getting a new computer to use on it.
