FlashFXP Help Please

Does anyone here use FlashFXP? I am trying to figure out how I can get files from my PC to my Xbox. I am using a router which I hear you must have. However my xbox is not set up wireless. If that is needed I guess I can do that. I already installed the software. I open up the GUI and it looks pretty easy to use. I just dont know how to link this thing up with my xbox. How do I get it to reconise my xbox? Do both the xbox and the PC have to powered up at the same time?

I use flashfxp to connect my xbox to my PC directly without a router, through a crossover cable to my NIC. I used a tutorial similar to this one:

Where can I get a crossover cable? Do they make really long ones? Like 30 feet?
