lachlan said:You clearly dont understand console/computer hardware, 24-bit was just a marketing thing but in reality it's only 16-bit.
The only reason why the Neo Geo was superior in graphics because it had 1) a faster 68000 CPU than most other consoles around at the time 2) could draw far more sprites at one time than any other console at that time (380 to be exact) 3) could display more colors than any other console at that time.
The Neo Geo was allot more powerful than the rest which rendered it able to display much more detailed graphics.
Also...our current gen consoles aren't "128-bit" as everyone says they are, there isnt even 128-bit code to even start making a CPU capable of running 128-bit code.
Our current gen consoles (ps2,xbox,gc) are only 32-bit, it wasn't long ago that AMD released the worlds first 64-bit CPU.

Galford Forever said:Don't forget the high meg count of the games, which at the time was insane. Back when it was "amazing" when an SNES game went up to 8 megs, the Neo games were in the hundreds.

Lynx was advertised as 16bit as well.

lachlan said:The Xbox360 uses 3 custom 64-bit IBM PowerPC CPU's so no the xbox360 isn't a 32-bit system, it's 64-bit.
The Nintendo 64 doesnt have a 64-bit CPU,it's 32-bit like all the others at that time.
The Jaguar doesn't use a 64-bit CPU but I think something is 64-bit, the bus maybe.
