2005 in coming to a close. It's hard to believe that the Neo was released 15 years ago. With this in mind, I wanted to find out member opinions on the future of our beloved system. Where do you see Neo gaming in the next 5 years? Collecting, will the market fall, or get stronger? What about ng.com in the next five years?

I hope to be still playing my Neo in 2010. I don't think I will stop collecting...that is until I have all the game. However, my collection has been growing at a very slow rate the last year or so. I'm not sure which direction the MVS market will go in the next few years. However, I think that AES prices and collectability has the potential to rise....less carts each year and no more in production. I think that most of the mega expensive carts have reached their maximum values. I certinally hope that ng.com will be around for a long time.

I haven't been around for too long, but here's my prediction:

The hardcore AES collectors will still be the same as today. Among less serious collectors, the AES and MVS markets will further equillibrate with more going to MVS and prices on the non super rare AES games will vary more. I think there will be a steady flow of people coming and going from Neo, but I would think that the numbers will slowly start to fall with less people gaining interest.

NG.com? It has been pretty dead, I bet Shawn will still be around, but maybe pass off much of the site to someone else. A ton of the stuff on the main site seems to be a bit old or abandoned. I think the forums will probably stay the most unchanged. This community is here to stay no matter what and isn't going anywhere.

I mostly agree. I think AES carts in good condition will steadlily go up, not just the super rare ones.

Overall,

-- AES prices will drop a little.

-- Much smaller fanbase.

The neo has only recently become a 'dead' system so its hard to tell. I think the rare games will still be very expensive, but will drop a little in market price.

The only thing that has been dead is the Neo Store. The main reasin IMO is that the prices are too high. Yes, I know that you are paying for the secuity of knowing that the item is exactly as described. I have purchased a ton of stuff at the NeoStore...was spending at least a few hundred dollors every couple of months. That was until Shawn droped the ball on my last transaction with the store. In the end everything was resolved, but I was disapointed. I'm not sure how things are now...it has been quite some time since I have purchased anything from the Neo Store. I am in no way trying to disrespect Shawn or the NeoStore. He has made many contributions to the Neo community. It appears that his focus has shifted away from ng.com.

The forum still brings in new members. I was hanging around the forum for about a year before I joined. In past three years there has been a noticeable descrease in the activity on the forum. However, I feel that the forum is far from dead.
