Dumb question - has anyone powder-coated their control panel?

Obviously, I don't expect there to be the amount of traffic on my MVS as there was in whatever arcade it was in, but with how the black paint wears off on all these things, I was thinking about having something a little tougher and longer-lasting done.

Any thoughts?

I have not heard of anyone doing this. I don't see why not. IMO you might be going over board a bit. A few good coats of black should be enough...clear coat if you must. I have not painted my cab's CP because I want it to keep the patina and a nostalgic look.

It's yours to do with as you wish.

I do powder coating. Mainly I use it for automotive, but I have done some of my arcade parts. For example, the bottom edge of my cocktail cabinet uses aluminum angle that I powder coated crinkle black. The stuff is awesome.

When I pulled up my control panel overlay on my cab it had a bunch of rust (the rest looked fine) after that I knew I just couldn't hide it again since I'd know its there and I'm a bit weird

so took it to an auto body place and they stripped it completely and painted it a nice glossy black dropped a NOS control panel overlay on it and it looks flawless I don't expect it to wear off from any personal use any time soon

it did cost me 100 bucks but I felt like it was completely worth it

here's some before and afters
the hardest part was removing and reapplying the one sticker and memory card decal
