NGPC Prototype?

Hi everyone,

I'm new to this forum. I don't collect for the AES or the MVS (although I'd like to I just can't afford to at the minute). I do have a small collection for the Neo Geo Pocket though.

I recently bought this cart for the NGPC:



It is Metal Slug 2nd Mission. I just wanted to know if it is a prototype or not.

The cart contains the first level of the game for the two characters and nothing else it seems. When the first boss is defeated the game over screen appears before another screen with Japanese writing and then you are sent back to the title screen.
According to the seller there are some differences between this and the released version but as I don't have another copy of the game I cannot confirm any just yet.
Another thing I noticed was the label on the cart was placed over another one. Fearing I'd been just sold a regular copy of MS2 I carefully peeled back the label to see the one underneath. The label underneath is a Neo Turf Master Golf one.

Any ideas as to this cart's origins?

That looks like the demo game used in the kiosks.

A buddy of mine collects these demos and the print type is exactly the same as the print on the cart in your pic.

mas magna says, it's a demo game.

It sure looks like demo carts, I forgot who sold a ton of them a while back. I believe, it was D-Lite?
