I was waiting for awhile until a nice deal came along. Nice price, condition, etc... Today was the day. I got the following for $230.00 including shipping.

Having patience finally paid off. Cheers,

Are you talking about conversions that are disguised as the real deal? I think checking the boards for hand or machine soldering is the only true way to know. Anyway, comparing the quality of materials, insert, sticker, manual etc. to other AES games you know are legit is . Instinct has much to be said for it as you can often tell something is "fishy." Make sure the game functions properly too.

Watch for inserts that are on the side. I own a conversion and the insert is printed sideways, so thats a sign. Also, if you buy a cart, have a look at the sticker over the top of the cart. If it has a crease in it then you know the cart has been opened and something funny has went on. Sometimes it can just be for repairs, but other cases it isn't.

Sorry; again, f*****g hate not having edit. You can usualy tell if the sticker or cover has been printed elswhere, blatantly obvious by the quality.

Thanks for the response. You know, I just found out SamSHo2 for the JPN version is extremely common. I think a person has to be incredibly stupid to waste money trying create a bootleg of it. I think they'll waste more money on that then buying the real one.

You only have to worry about AES bootlegs/conversions on very expensive titles like Kizuna, Metal Slug, Blazing Star, etc.

In which case you could probably tell by the price the bootleg/conversion is being sold at - it would be much less than the original's market value unless the seller is a complete scammer.

^True. Most of the un-common games sale for roughly $360-$400 so any less in good condition, I'd be suspicious about. Titles I'm talking about are the likes of Garou: MotW, Waku Waku 7, Metal Slug 4, Metal Slug 5 etc.

if you ever buy expensive carts, just buy from a reputable seller. if a deal looks too good to be true, it probably is.

Any decent seller will know if they have a conversion and will sell it as such.

Good one: you bought a Neo
bad one: you edited the thread title so all this makes no sense!

Cool man. Good find. I'm right behind you... hopefully.

By the way, who did you buy it from?

Someone named Japanretro.

He was selling off his games and systems he collected over the years.

Yeah you start a thread telling everyone you bought an AES, whoopee! Then all the posts below are going on about conversions wtf?! :conf:

I wish a mod would set a 10 minute time limit or something like that on editing threads.

You know, I was actually watching this exact auction. I don't have the green to drop on an AES at the moment though.

Cool. I decided to get this for myself as a Christmas present. And what a better way to treat thyself with a Neo.
