I was just wondering if any one has ever seen a neo geo at a garage sale or flea market or thrift store, some where besides on the internet or a proper video game store.

I certainly did. £1.50 from a car boot sale and I knocked the guy down from £3 as well because it didn't have any games and only a US power supply! :D My all time lucky find of the century! Most people don't know what a neo geo is so keep an eye out at car boots, cos if you find one it'll probably be cheap.

Not quiet car-boot prices, but I have just bought 3 AES bare consoles for £30 shipped.

The seller described them as "untested" he says he has no leads/games to test them, but he might know they don't work. For £30 I'll take a chance.

You gotta keep your cool mate! I just made out I wasn't really interested because it didn't have any games or UK power supply and offered him 1.50. Actually at the time I didn't know how much it was worth. I'd heard of neo geo and knew they were mega cool in their day but didn't know they still were! I got it home strapped to the back of my pushbike and nearly didn't buy it cos it was almost too big to fit!

I got my first NGH system at a pawn shop, boxed gold system w/Magician Lord and 2 controllers for $20 bucks. Talked him down from $50. That was a very good day ;)

No, I've never seen a Neo-Geo or any AES game at a store. I still have yet to even seen one personally.

Before the internet, I remember looking in the back of game mags and seeing N-G games for sale...I had wanted one, but those prices were insane.

And what the fuck @ car boot sales. wikipedia time!

Maybe not at a garage sale as I don't go to them, but I have witnessed it once in a indie game store around here. I picked up Aero Fighters 2 for 20 bucks, it was good times.

I sometimes go to flea markets, yep you know the deal check out for game rarities. Have found alot of nice finds including a megaman x3 for 7 bucks sold it for 70 bucks on ebay. Found lil samson for the nes complete sold it for 44 bucks on ebay only paid 2 bucks for it, if that's not a deal I don't know what is. I've been actively searching and no luck finding Neo Geo Aes games nor mvs games. However, I have encountered them in 2 specialty stores so far. One of them closed down, it was called High Score located at 95th and Ridgeland on the south side of Chicago. I still know of another one recently opened its called Video Games ect. still open, they sell vintage old skool and Next Generation Gems. I have seen them sell Neo Geo systems, Vectrex systems, and just about everything we have here at the forums. The Neo's go for about 200 per system. The games are at least twice of what they sell for here at the forums. Luckily, I buy my games here and save money.

so they show up once in a great while, that's cool, I saw one in a used game store once (before I got mine from Amakusa through the forums here), price is $200 with 1 old style controller and adapters, probably could talk the employee into throwing in a free game though, albiet either nam 75 or the earlier golf game. they probably still have it, though.
However all said and done though I've yet to find a neo geo I'm not going to complain about my luck at finding stuff in the wild overall

some two years ago I got 12 complete aes games for about $30. Nothing rare though, the usual fire suplex, SS1, SS2 etc.

Still, the best deal I ever had, I kept only 1, sold the rest.

I remember the last expo, the Atari collectors.... :oh_no:

Bragging that they scored 15,003,432 games for 25 cents...

Mountains of Atari games, the mind boggles. It's no wonder they hate us Neo•Geo guys.
