Hey guys,

After looking through the price guides and sighing in despair at my bank balance, I noticed that many of you have huge and expensive collections.

Some very helpful feedback from the members here has encouraged me to consider a consolised MVS system, and I'm thinking to myself...this is going to set me back about what the Xbox360 costs....and we've got two more next gen consoles in 2006. What do I have to give up to get an MVS system?

So...what on earth did you give up in order to have those collections? A car? Household renovations? Higher education? Or does everyone have such a huge amount of disposable income that NG stuff is manageable???

Hard work and saving is one thing...but when you have a couple of grand in the bank, surely you'd freeze before you fork all that out on a Metal Slug...right???

1.)Jobs(Such as Wal-Mart employee, cashier at Mcdonalds, the cart boy at some Supermarket. Whatever gets the money in)
2.)Have no girlfriend, friends, life, whatever, to spend money on except video games
3.)Just rich because of your parents or your grandparents
4.)Sell your items to make money, and use that money
5.)Male-Juggalo

I just don't buy any nexy gen consoles. I'm not interested in them at all. Neo Geo has everything I want from video gaming. Better resolution and 3D graphics don't neccesarily mean better games.

You should definitely go the mvs route if you don't have much money to spend. Nearly all the best games on the aes are expensive and you'd just end up spending money that you don't have to get the games you want. I know because I've been there! Now I have mvs I can steadily build up my collection by buying a few games each month and my bank balance hardly notices :D

:kekeke: A full set of English homecarts in a month no less!

Seriously, take your time and hunt out deals. These games aren't going anywhere and will last for quite some time longer.

The good thing is people take care of neo•geo games moreso than any other platform so finding them in good condition isn't difficult.

You can find auctions for MVS games any day of the week, but the consolized system is silly when compared to a supergun which plays most any JAMMA board.

That hoser Kpj or whatever will charge you much more than the costs of an MVS mobo, supergun and several games along with controllers for a bare system so just cut through the bullshit and buy a 'gun, you won't regret it.

with MVS, you can get most games and some kits for under £40, which is the high street price for new console games....

I would much rather have my MVS games than a row of PS2/Xbox titles.

Juggalo? I didn't think juggling paid that much (I actually know a guy who earn a crust juggling, plate spinning etc)

Being a male gigolo would be much wiser...

I simply shed some dead weight systems to raise the funds for my MVS stuff. I sold some close to worthless systems like:

3DO
Jaguar
One of my Master Systems
Laseractive
Dreamcast
My Genesis 2 and 3 as well as my Sega CD 2 (I kept me original Sega and Sega CD)

As well as many useless titles.

I couldn’t be happier. Games like Metal Slug 1-3 and bust a move make it all worth while.

It's what he meant. I didn't feel like correcting.

That depends on personal preference. I think a supergun is unnecessary and ugly when compared to a consolised system if you only want to play neo geo and have no interest in other arcade game boards.

I gave nothing up...just a little saving now & then...whats the rush...the right titles will come to you at the right price in the right conditions.....collections don't suddenly appear in a few weeks/months...they take years...Have fun with your MVS games & system....thats whats its all about.....there are some real cheap gems out there.....a few quid for ss1 / kof/ffs...and you'll have great fun with those for long time...

That's not a deadweight system :crying:

Anyway, even if you wait years to collect your carts, surely there's something else that you'd want to buy or would need to pay for at the time that *special* cart turns up. I really need to get my car windows tinted, but I also really wanted an AES, so I gave the former up. Wait, I'll rephrase that to "deferred" rather than "gave up". 'Gave up' sounds soooo depressing.

And I couldn't be a gigolo. Years of video game playing has turned my body into an amorphous mass of jelly...I don't think that sells on the streets these days...

Donate blood :tickled:

Still a, MVS isn't cheap to get but keep in mind since the games are "dirt cheap". It will.... pay itself off in the long run.

I gave up nothing. My gaming budget just went from current gen to NEO GEO. Plus I have a sweet job and being a single guy, my living expenses are low.
