Can anyone here give me some tips in third strike? I seem to lose alot cause I don't know how to play. For example some people seem to do special moves, but there a little stronger than mine. I'm not talking about supers. I'll be throwing a Hadoken using Ryu, and my opponet will be using Ryu also. Eventually he will throw one that goes through mine. But it's not a super. Most of the time it looks red. It seems all ken and Ryu players can do sooped up versions of all the specials that are not supers.

Also how do you choose Gill? Seems alot of poeple like to beat me with him.

Any other tips would be great. I just started playing a few days ago.

in 3rd strike you can EX mode normal specials with two buttons

e.g

qcf+MPHP = ex fireball

Dropping is a pretty shitty thing to do, but when the other guy chooses Gill, it's justified. He really shouldn't even be selectable, it's just stupid.

Yeah, I get alot of gill players. I am not even showable in the rank system yet. Still way over 1000 i'm sure. I'll play someone whose like rank 500 or lower and they'll choose gill. Seein as I have barely 100 fights under my belt and they have a few thousand it's kinda cheap. They usually wait till I beat them and then pick Gill. Pretty amazing how some people can still suck and be under 500.

I was playing this guy who was 200 and something the other day and was whoopin his ass. He kept crying and got gill. Then I beat him again. I think with some more practice i'll be pretty decent.

What do you do against Yun players? They do that move where he turns yellow and speeds up. I always get my ass kicked cause they do those ridiculous juggles in the corner.

There's absolutely no excuse for that - drop their stupid ass the second they choose Gill.

Yun is a huge bitch period, but when you combine this with the parrying and lag that are usually present online, sometimes it's difficult to even have a fair match with Yun. He has a set of moves that are basically unpunishable online, and his super one of the cheapest in the game (along with Chun-Li's, hence the phrase Yun/Chun whores. :D ).

Anyway, I sometimes have decent luck against Yun by using the shotos and playing defensively (I'm not a big Ken user, and I usually use Ryu and occasionally Akuma). Try to shut down Yun's ground game by keeping distance between the two of you, and keeping the hadokens rolling (also, use them to keep Yun away when the Genai is activated). Use anti-air shoryukens and/or hurricane kicks to shut down and punish jump-ins. This match is still no gimmie, but it can be used to frustrate some Yun players, especially the more aggressive ones. Also, Chun-Li is a pretty decent choice to play against Yun, although I hate playing with her.

What is this Kara Throwing? I see in the guide book there are 3 different kinds or levels of it. I just cant seem to get these to work. I tried in training for a long time with no luck. Even using negative edge I have no luck. The one I was trying was I think forward+MP, then LP+LK. The one for Ryu.

Could someone explain to me what this is? The guide is kinda hard to understand. From what I understand it's canceling a normal into a throw.

Basically, kara throwing is where you perform a move that causes your character to lunge forward, and then you immediately cancel into a throw. The trick is that you have to be very precise with the timing to use it effectively - you must press the move to be canceled immediately before pressing lk+lp to throw. The time between doing the move and the throw is just a small fraction of a second (just a couple of frames or so).

It took me a while to get the timing down, and I still can't always get the to work consistently.

I think most characters have a kara throw, but some of them aren't worth bothering with. Ryu's is good, Q's is really good, Chun-li's is good, and I think Alex's is ok. Those are about the only people I play with at all that have a decent kara throw. Actually I don't play with Chun, since she's a cheezy whore. :kekeke:

Divide the charge needed for a charge moves in 2 or 3 little stocks.
It's an important part for some characters gameplay like Remy or Urien.

Let's say u pick Remy and want a flashkick, normally u hold down or downback for the needed time to charge and then press up + kick, that's the normal full charge for his flashkick. Now try to hold downback for half of the time, dash forward and immediately hold downback again to complete the flashkick charge during the dash animation, now after the dash ends just press up+kick and your flaskick comes out from nowhere.
U can also store your charge during normal pokes hiding the charge to your opponent eyes, something like doing 3 or 4 standing MPs with Urien or Alex from far and charge a little down during the animation of each MPs without crouching, then press up+kick for a kneepress or footstomp. Your opponent think u're just charging a back/forward move and not a down/up move cuz he ain't see you crouching with charge partitioning.
