I'm thinking about getting one. Load times, I can stand. Considering I'm a person who has alot of patience.

Do you guys have alot fun with it?

Iv'e got it all, but I play my neo cd alot because I can't lay in bed and play my cab and my aes never comes out of its box. The load times are no big deal, the games are the same...It's awesome!

it's fine as long as you play older games like Windjammers, league bowling, etc... but for Fighters since 1998, it's becoming very annoying to wait such a long time between each match !!! But if you want to save money and avoid spending big bucks for the last AES fighters, buy a neo CDZ, it's already great !!!

Neo CD was my first of the trio, then MVS, then AES.

CD is good for music (esp sam sho games!), but the load times are soooo annoying between every match in fighting games.
I bought my NeoCD and went to a mates house and he just happened to have borrowed a projector from work for the weekend, so we were playing Metal Slug and Samurai Shodowns on a screen about 8ft by 6ft..... :drool_2:

MVS is awesome - a great mix of stunning games with reasonable prices. Unless you get a very nice consolized system, they can look ugly tho.

AES is just pure SNK. It's such a stylish console set up.

I do, it were my first SNK console at release and despite having the other set ups at times I always go back to this one, my favorite

We all know the drawbacks, but whatever, still one of the best systems ive ever known.

I have a NGCD and AES and I use the CD for the older titles that doesn't require so much loading (some games only load once at startup). I recently discovered that I could play my NGCD's in my stereo which is great if you want to listen to the soundtracks without playing the game :multi_co: The NGCD is a great console but as everyone else already said - stay away from the newer fighters!

I have a 4 slot MVS cab and am in the market for an AES.

So, how long are the load times on NGCD really? Like, on a newer title, I mean. I hear these horror stories about it all the time...

Samurai Shodown in the CD is pretty sweet, as far as the loady fighters go.

Pick up last resort, Baseball stars 2, viewpoint. Good games.

The newest game I have is Sam Sho 3 on my cd and the loading time is fine. I think people way over exaggerate on the length of loading times. People say you can make a cup of coffee or a sandwich between rounds on the last blade, I doubt it.

well you can take a shit and come back while waiting for lb or lb2 to load. especially without democut on. regarding your question, yes cd is great. ive had mine since 95, sold my toploader and bought a cdz some time ago. dont play it a lot anymore but still like it. i dont have too much time on my hands so my cdz and ps2 sf3ts havent been getting a lot of play from me lately. i do play the roms occasionally like now when i check the net and ng.com, i feel the sudden urge to fight a fe rounds. i got a little over haf of he neo cd releases, most of them OG, some copies. mvs seems great too, aes sucks. that is if your a gamer and not a collector. no game is worth over $50,- IMO, let alone a few hundred or thousend.

I started out with one, and yeah its a blast to play. Once you go AES or MVS its hard to go back to a NGCD tho :smirk:

I got a Neo CD after I got my first AES. The only reason I really wanted it was for the Metal Slugs. The system has not been played in about a year and it's been over a year and a half since I added a Neo CD game to my collection. My interest has always been in AES and MVS. It's not a bad system as long as you don't mind the load times....which can be quite long sometimes.

there is a website that lists the load times for each game on NGCD, & details it such as between rounds, levels, etc. I don't know the name of the website but someone on this forum posted the link sometime back, try the search function.

Little note that non-CD owning cats may be interested know:

There is only a power button on the surface of the machine. No eject button. That's done through the onboard software.

Load times -and I've been purported to be too patient- are as others have said. Load times are noticibly long. That said, though, the Metal Slug incarnations are OK. So are the Samurai Shodown/Spirits incarnations. KOF98... if you have colorful wallpaper, pictures, or an open window in the room, you'll be fine. :)

I couldnt stand the cd loading times. it totally ruined the whole experience of last blade for me. I originally had an AES system but couldnt afford games because i was at uni. I then sold that and got a neo cd but the load times were horrible and i couldnt play all the new games coming out.
I now own another AES system and have finished university.
My life is complete.

Same here. Last Blade is playable with Demo Cut on but it's just not the same experience. I play it as much for the atmosphere as the game itself and without the cut scenes, it's just another weapons fighter.

It was that and the loading between rounds in KOF games that finally pushed me to get my MVS. So now I play old games and puzzles on the CD and new games and fighters on the MVS.

Collection

I just got my CD because I do not want to pay $100 for 1 game. I have a nice selection of games for my CD right now. If a game load is to intense for me then I have no problem popping the CD into the emulator. I could'nt afford AES versions of Metal Slug but could for the CD.
