I'm a somewhat of a completest when it comes to video games, I like to try and unlock everything. Now with the Gamerscore, that fiending is taken to the next level. A thousand points per game, eighteen launch titles, you do the math. Anywhere from five to fifty achievements to be unlocked per game. It's madness I tells ya!

I mean, call me a whore, but having these achievement points gives me incentive to try other genres and games I normally wouldn't try. Take Madden for example. I hate that franchise, with a passion. But after unlocking all one-thousand points in NBA Live 06 in a matter of...three hours, I'm tempted to rent and put some effort into Madden once again, if only for the achievement points. It's a sad state of affairs, honestly. I'm hooked.

Gonna need GSA, soon (GamerScore Anonymous)!

Is anyone else enjoying this feature like me?

Right now the highest GS I've seen is over 3,400. The bastard... Must be one of those who won a contest and got their 360 a week before launch or hasn't slept since monday morning? 3,400+...good gravy?!

This system is interesting, but extremely flawed.

For instance, I was looking at achievements for other games that I don't own.

You get 150 points for betting Kameo. 80 for Ridge Racer 6.

You get 5 points for doing a 360 in RR6, and you get FIFTEEN for completing your first TOUCHDOWN in Madden and 10 for getting a FIRST DOWN.

But you get 5 for beating the first boss in Smash TV.

WTF?

Yeah, it's a little bit weird, the way some of the games achievements are set up.

Like I said, it took me three hours to unlock every achievement point in NBA Live 06 (sans the last 40, which I'll get today). I've put the same amount of time, if not more, into Quake 4 but have earned less than a hundred achievement points so far. Even if I played Quake 4 till the end of the year I still probably won't have half the points unlocked.

How many points are available in Smash TV? Two-hundred? Remembering how difficult that game was without the extra lives code on the SNES makes me cringe at the thought of having to complete the game to earn points. That'll be one difficult task. :(

I don't remember how many in Smash TV, but its probably something around 200. The achievements don't seem to be that hard, as the game kept feeding me continue after continue when Mutoid Man proceeded to destroy me time and time again.

There are however, achievements for beating the bosses without continuing, I can pretty much forget about those.

Crack, crack, crackedy crack crack.

NBA Live 06...done.
NBA 2k6...done.
Condemned...730/970
NHL 2k6...750/1000

The last achievement I need in NHL 2k6 is tough. Score on a penalty shot on All-star difficulty or higher, the problem is the cpu gets away with slashing and hooking you on a breakaway, even with the game sliders turned all the way up. Weak sauce. I'm probably better off trying to achieve it online I suppose.

Condemned, I should have it finished already, but for some odd reason I couldn't pick up a weapon against the final boss, the "Dark Entity". I could replenish my health, but not pick up a weapon?! ZOMGWTF!!! I'll get another 150-200 points once I've slaughter him. Then I have to go through the game against cuz I missed some evidence in chapter four, which unlocks another achievement.

Then it's on to King Kong. Nothing difficult, eight or nine hours and there's another thousand points. Yahtzee!

Quake 4, f**k me running, ten-thousand win points at twenty points a game, if you win that game...sheesh. #1 across all online leaderboards, top ten on a single leaderboard, five-thousand frags, five-thousand flags captured...whatever! S**t's gonna take months of constant online play.

PDZ, like Quake 4 only not as extreme. A thousand kills, hundred head-shots, thousand flags captured, etc. I'm considering starting this first since the requirements are lower.

RR6's achievements look easy, though a bit nondescript.

So for someone that doesn't own a 360 and sees this as something totally ridiculous...what exactly do these points do for you?

:p

Haha sorry but that's retarded ;)

It's like Atari patches.

Internet peanus my friend, internet peanus.

Magican, are you using Gamefly?

Perhaps MS will do giveaways for the top gamer point scores of the month...

You know what'll happen if I get going on this point competition...

Yup, I've been using Gamefly for a couple years now. I'm waiting on Gun and Madden from them.

If M$ did do giveaways for the top gamerscore I wouldn't be close, there are kats over six-thousand points now. Which blows my f**king mind. I wish I had free time like that.

I don't believe M$ will be proactive and give bonuses for a high gamerscore, I admit it would be nice though. Or if the developers/publishers would award you a certain number of marketplace points for unlocking all the achievement points in their game, that would be cool too.

I just got I think 1000, or almost 1000 pts for beating King Kong.

I'm very pleased.

King Kong is a good game btw.

So who determines how many points can be earned in a given game? Microsoft or developers?

I imagine they'll soon be abusing this system (if they aren't already) in a way that boosts sales/rentals on shit games. I have to get Quake 4 DUDE! It's worth 3,000 points!

Yup.

It's not that bad of a game actually.

Give it a rent, and rack up some points bro.

They basically give you a 100 points everytime you get to a Kong Mission, which are really fun, and eventually youve done that like 10 times. (in about 6-8 hours)

Try it.

And here I thought I was doing well...

...the kat on top of the leaderboards over at mgc.net, ST TheKing I believe, has ten-thousand+ achievement points...

...damn.

But that's alright, he beat me to the punch on the easier titles. Gimme a couple/few weeks of gamefly rentals and I'll be over ten-thousand points too, bitches.

PDZ is a pain to get point for. I've played over sixty hours now and have less than six-hundred to show for it, and I haven't finished single player on agent level yet. As opposed to the sports titles...that take all of less than an hour for one-thousand points. :chimp: Right now in PDZ I'm working on one-thousand games played and one-thousand explosion kill achievements. The quickest I can play a game and finish w/an explosion kill is one minute. One-thousand minutes divided by sixty minutes = 16hrs & 40mins. Add twenty seconds for load times = 330 minutes = 5hrs 30mins (for frickin' load times...sheesh).

Twenty-one hours for...you guessed it, sixty points. 60! For the gold "Deathmatch Games Played" and "1,000 Explosion Kill" achievements", thirty a piece.

Or, if you'd like, two-hundred and ten points, if I didn't already have:

Games Played, bronze (10), silver (20)
Explosion Kill, bronze (10), silver (20)
Deathmatch Kill, bronze (10), silver (20), gold (30)
Flags Captured, bronze (10), silver (20)

...brutal I tells ya!

But after that all I have left are three more multiplayer achievements and all the campaign (single & co-op) achievements and PDZ is done. Another...fifty hours, maybe?

Then I'll start on Quake 4, which should take longer than PDZ. Yikes...

Hexic is gonna have to take a backseat, for now Bejeweled is feeding my puzzle fix. I'm on level 25 of the "Complete 280 levels in Endless mode" achievement in Bejeweled. That's gonna take crazy time, twenty hours or more I'd say. Again, for a measly twenty or thirty points. Ugh, it hurts so good.

Hexic is wicked difficult at times for me though; I believe I'll never form a black pearl, ever.
