my friend gave me these two games about 12 years ago
they both work albeit with a bit of pressing needed as the battery covers are both missing
ive always been curious if these are a rarity as i haven't seen these anywhere else, but maybe they were common in other countries

anyone ever seen or played these before?
i guess this is more of a question for the older members on the forum ,as these were made in 1983 by nintendo game&watch

info please

yeah these are special releases of nintendos game & watch series, only a few games were chosen.

im not sure how rare they are or what price they fetch, but my old roomate was a G&W nut (man thos little things are hella expensive sometimes), ill ask him, he had a whole bunch of em :)

asked him and these are the rarest of the G&W special editions.

based on condition and the fact that the battery hatches are missing he says they will sell for around $50-75 a piece :)

nice pieces of retro-gamer-art tho and it is very usual for them to be broken in the controls etc so treat them carefully :)

Very nice.

I think there were 5 or 6 games chosen for this range of games,

Donkey Kong Jr (beige/brown)
Snoopy(yellow)
Mario's Cement Factory(red)
Popeye (green)
Mickey Mouse(purple)

are the ones that I can remember. These titles were also released in panoramic versions as well(these unfolded like the hardtop roof on a convertible).

The batteries in the tabletops are guaranteed to last for upto a year of playing as all they power is the screen. The screen is actually in the roof of the machine and light shines through the panel on the top and is then projected onto a mirror which is where you can see the playing field.

About 3 years ago,I bought a boxed Snoopy tabletop from a carboot sale for £3.I sold it soon after to a big G&W collector for £100 as the one he had didn't have the battery cover nor was his boxed.

I would expect you to get around £30-40 each for them.

thanks for the info everyone! :buttrock:

i always thought they were unusual, but i didn't know for sure of their rarity & collector value
coming to think of it,i guess these games hold a lot of memories for people like myself
the g&w games were actually my only gaming experience since my parents never allowed me to go to the local arcades at the time as i was- too young? . there was also a lot of drugs like heroin back in my area(1985) and the dealers & users used to meet up around the arcades.punks used to be around then and unlike these days, they were quite dangerous :smirk:

i was glad when i changed areas and first hit the arcades back in 88

to finish the pics off, here are the other two g&w titles i own from my early days

now my curiosity has been satisfied, i've gotta work out if i'll sell or keep em :conf:

cheers

lust like in robocop!! :glee:

hehe, here in sweden atleast they are very sought after by retro-freaks in general, people decorating their houses with retro peraphanalia (did i spell that right? its kinda late) are crazy about them because they have such an obsolete style design :) fits in perfectly next to yer recorder and VHS collection...
