Ive put that 6 slot from some threads ago away, and aquired a new one. Plays fine, but for some reason the pictures wobbles ever so slightly when its powered up. Almost unoticable..... ALMOST.

Ive brainstormed a little and have come up with some ideas, if some one could tell me if im on the right track it would be great, otherwise im gonna conclude that god does not want me to have a consolized MVS system. :crying:

PSU power to high? Or low?
Blanking resistor in scart missing?
2 pin lead connecting both boards missing?

Any help is, as always, appreciated.

Wouldn't have thought so.
If the +5v is too low, the system would reset itself repeatedly.
Don't think you can set it high enough to do any real damage.
Check it anyway, mate. It wants to be at or just under 5v.

That would be my guess.
I had to add resistors to my SCART lead as the picture wobbled and distorted, especially when something bright happened on screen.

Not needed.

Does the wobble happen when there is too much or too little voltage on the scart lead?

The +5v line in a SCART lead 'tells' the TV that the signal is RGB, this is not the line that is causing the problem.

If the actual R,G & B lines are giving too strong a signal to the TV, this can cause the wobble.

I've never experienced any wobble that could be attributed to the lack of resistors in the RGB lines when hooking up an arcade board to a CRT TV. Don't know about LCDs or other types.

I ask because I have this wobble on a one slot. just faint wobble and I'm using a 3V adapter to the voltage wire in the scart plug.

The guidance I read says it requires between 1 and 3V to "tell" the TV to expect RGB scart.

So are you saying some resistors in series in the wires would halt the wobble?

I had the wobble with two of my consolized boards on both a CRT and Rear Projection TV.

Resistors fixed this.

As I said: This wobble happened mostly when something bright happened on the screen and it may not be the problem you (El Capitan) are experiencing.

It could be interference, though I doubt it. RGB isn't very susceptible to interference.

Still.... some 80ohm resistors won't break the bank. ;)

Resistors are a MUST (and 80ohm (82 actually) is even a bit on the low side for my taste, I get the picture I want with 120ohm), I'm just saying the lack thereof doesn't cause wobble in my experience, sure I do get a lot of bleeding with white but the picture remains stable.

I suppose it largely depends on the TV.

If you go too high on the resistance, you'll get a dark picture (not that that would be the end of the world).

Never had any trouble with colour bleed. I suppose that depends on your TV as well though.

Ok, so I went to Maplins today to get the resistors. Only 13 pence each so im happy. Then the guy says 'sorry, we aint got no 80 ohm resistors'. So I figure i will get 3 lots of 100 and 3 lots of 120, and see what suits me best. Then the guy comes back upstairs and tells me they dont have those either. Grrrrrr!

Eventually, I ended up spending 8 quid on a box of various strength resistors, as I was pissed that I went all the way into central London for nothing, I thought I could at least get them from this bulk packet.

But now that im home, the bloody packet is in some foreign language and there is no language on there I understand, and im bilingual.

So my question is - What colours are 100 and 120 ohm resistors?

Christ, is nothing easy in the supergun/mvs world?

Hi Ninja.

The colours for the resistors you need are:

100ohm = Brown, Black, Black, Black *space* Gold
120ohm = Brown, Red, Black, Black *space* Gold

I hope this works after you've gone to all this trouble, mate. :make_fac:
