So I just made a large Neo purchase from a reliable seller on this forum. I'm not worried that the games I just got are boots, but just for future reference. If you get an MVS game in a kit with matching serials and no crease on the label, is there still a chance that the games might be bootlegs?

Also, on a Metal Slug 3 MVS cart, is that piece of plastic by the contacts of the PCB supposed to be blue?

I doubt you would ever get a bootleg in an MVS kit with the original lable, correct serials, no bend in lable.

I'd say that if it has the original label with no signs of bending where the two parts of the shell meet; it's legit. There is no way to open an MVS cart without leaving some signs that it was opened. That is why I only open my MVS carts that already have poor labels when I'm cleaning my carts.

The label is just a sticker. Stickers can be printed. Just because you have a label that LOOKS original, doesn't necessarilly mean that it IS original.

Aaron D> My ms3 also has a blue holder for the pcbs.

You can't print those hologram stickers.
A copied sticker is going to have a flaw somewhere though.

Yep - I have a boot with a hologram sticker- it's not like the diamond holograms on snk ones, it's stars.

You're saying I can print off MVS SNK hologram stickers that look 100% SNK ?

The only surefire way to know if you have a boot or not is to compare your boards to others.

Well, the games I got were Metal Slug 1, 2 and 3 all in kits. Out of them MS 3 is worth the most and I know that it is original (Toshiba chips). MS 3 is the most likely to be pirated, so I would have no reason to believe that the other two were boots.

If you spent the time and the effort to make them "perfect", then yes, you theoretically could.

I do most definitely agree that anything in an MVS kit could be duplicated with the right devices, effort, materials, etc. I bet any box company could duplicate those boxes. I'm not sure of the copyright laws on boxes though :kekeke: . The bubble bags could probably be made yourself with some blue bubble wrap and some scissors that have been heated. I have a few loose carts and have thought about looking into getting boxes made though *only for myself and not for profit in any form*
