Neo Geo Counter Top at Target.com?

I can't understand why this Neo Geo counter top is listed under "Taito version". On the side of the cabinet, I don't see Space Invaders, Arkanoid, etc. It must be a typo. Overall it's kind of interesting with the exception of the fact that all the games are two player games but there's only 1 joystick :(

EDIT: It looks like they fixed the picture. The weird thing is that the "red" version only had one joystick and it looked more like a Neo Geo cabinet.

Hmmm, it just dawned upon me that Taito did "Bust A Move" for the Neo Geo. Is that the connection?

EDIT: It looks like the used the wrong picture on Target.com Bust-A-Move is on the "Taito Collection". Who knows if Target will even sell the SNK collection.

All they had to do is use a breakaway joystick that you can plug into the side of the cab for player 2 to use.
Is that price correct? For that?
Oh well...

You could buy a "REAL" cab for that much.

Half of an Arcade Cab?? That is really, truly ugly.
This new generation of "commercial game offerers" are mentally disfunctional.
Whatever happened to a public survey?
What a monstrosity....
I would strongly suggest that they ONLY build these on request.
Better yet,I would personally commission Ben Heck. He has the tools, better skill and passion(<important) for this type of stuff.

I blew a whole $50 on my cab. But then again, it wasn't a Neo at the time and was missing the monitor and half the controls. Probably spent $600 to get it where it is, and that's including my purchase of a System 11 that is now serving to test my homemade supergun. ;)

I think everyone is missing the whole point on this. Yeah it does seem overpriced for $500 but they obviously weren't trying to target folks on this forum. This is for the parents who have way too much money to spend on their kids or for people with deep pockets who don't have a passion for collecting full size arcade games. Compared to the overpriced $4000 to $6000 Golden Tees, Arcade Legends or Ultracades that Target and Wal-Mart are also trying to sell, this seems like a deal. They won't have to shell out thousands of dollars and have a huge full size arcade cabinet in their house. I still recall buying my first arcade machine and trying to get it home was like Operation Mission Impossible. I can imagine many people would not even have any clue how to move a full size arcade game.

If the kids you're talking about are the target audience (ZOMFG pun! :kekeke: ), then they should sell a grand total of about 3 of these ill-conceived pieces of shit.

The design is very faulty. What they needed here was to include the lower half of the cab and two removable joysticks that could be slotted in the control panel area. The consumer should also have the option of a 19^ monitor.

The only thing that isn't faulty would be the attempt, albeit lame, to bring back some Neo Geo classics.

Paying $400 + for an emulating table top is highway robbery. You can get the rooms for free on the web and actually build your own table top. Why would anyone pay
400 + for a cheaply made table top is beyond me. Shit I can get an xbox 360 for that price or buy a candy cab which is a lot closer to the real deal. I'll just wait till everyone rushes to target laughs at the price and find the same mini arcade at the liquidation bin. :)

That's funny.

I've always thought that downloading romz was a form of robbery.

It isn't considered that if you actually own the game...but why pay for them?
