It will be priced less than the R2N, initial run will be in limited quantities. It should be perfect for people that just want component video out of their Neo / Supergun, without spending a fortune. Should be available before the end of the year.

Sweet!

A low priced alternative to the NeoBitz for folks who don't want the composite and s-video out.

Is it an based on an array of op-amps (like http://www.keohi.com/keohihdtv/interfaces/diytranscoder_johrhees.html) or is it done with a transcoder chip?

JMKurtz won't give me any hints (which I can totally understand ;) proprietary trade secrets and what not) But judging by pics (and the relatively low cost of a neobitz compared to professional transcoders) I have been assuming that the NeoBitz is based on a circuit similar to the link above.

None of that is really important. What is important is that there is finally a non-DIY component mod for those of us that already have RGB to NTSC/PAL capabilities!!! :chimp:

Yeah that's basically the same idea, but with different op amps. That schematic is from a paysite (which you can access through google for free but not if you paste in the link?) not sure what the legality of posting it in the forums is...

Not hardly.

Go to http://http://elm-chan.org
Click Electronic Handiworks
Click Video Processing
Click Component Video to RGB Converter
Click very last link on page, "Circuit Diagram 4 (RGB to YUV) "

Or if youd prefer a direct link: http://elm-chan.org/works/yuv2rgb/rgb2yuv.png

Sorry I thought that schematic was from here : http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&lr=&q=http://www.siliconchip.com.au/cms/A_102648/article.html

You have to go to the site through google or you can't see the schematics (it's a paysite). So I guess I'm the one posting other people's copyrighted material (well only a link to it  )

The description of the circuit link I posted earlier in the thread is http://www.keohi.com/keohihdtv/interfaces/diytranscoder.html

Sorry again and cheers,

Ohhhh, shit. I didn't realize he finally got around to putting out his component board.

I like the fact that it has a RGB pass through header, plus seperate headers for both Composite/S-Video and Component.

Slick.

Edit: I wonder how much they are going to be?

I am curious to see the differences of the three boards. I need to get a new encoder for my supergun and was initally going to go for a neobits boarfor about $110. Anyone know what the prices will be for the both jrok's board and c.t.h's board ?

I am assuming that CTH's Board will be under $70.

JAmes Rowan (JROK) hasn't quoted me a price yet on his boards. I assume that the one shown will be about the same price as the neobitz.

He is also making a Component only one.

This is the reply I got from jrok when I emailed him about price.

-----

The new composite, s-video and component video encoder with all the options
and pin header leads has an introductory price of $85 + shipping.

The component only encoder is available for $65 + shipping. This does include
the 4 pin header plug for the component output header.

Until the end of January the V3.1 RGB to Video & S-video encoder is
$10 off the normal price of $75, reduced to $65 + Shipping.

In addition I now have gold plated panel mount phono jack sockets available
in red, green, blue and yellow. Pricing is $1.75 per socket
The mounting diagram is now available at
http://www.jrok.com/hardware/RGBv4/panel_mount_phono.jpg

Shipping & Handling, in the USA, is $6.50 for insured priority mail with
delivery confirmation. Shipping charges are $1 for each additional converter.

S&H to Canada is $11 (USD) for insured Registered Airmail Letter Post, also
available for Canada is Global Express Mail for $16 (USD).

Discounts are 10% for 5 to 9 encoders and 15% for 10 or more.

I warranty the encoder against defects for 3 months, but excluding damage
caused to the board through mis-wiring.

I'm located in San Diego, California, and currently I only ship within
the USA & Canada.

Payment can be made by US Dollar money order or through the Paypal
service http://www.paypal.com/.

If payment is to be by money order, please let me know I will send
the payment address.

Please Note:
I only accept payment from confirmed verified Paypal accounts. For everyone's
protection I will ONLY ship to the Paypal confirmed address.

I will refund/refuse payment from unconfirmed accounts. PLEASE do not
send payment if you do not have a verified account with a confirmed shipping
address, I will just refund payment.

Just wanted to drop in with some info.

James was kind enough to send me a few Component/S-Video/Composite boards in the past 6/7 months for testing.

They are great. I'm looking forward to the new PCBs he's offering.

Say what?
The San Diego part was a quote from JROK. You obviously know I don't live there.
