Hi, I am new to the neo geo stuff. I have a dedicated 4 slot machine. It powers up, goes through test screens and I can change the time and stuff. However, the game never starts. It is like the machine is stuck in test. Can anybody push me in the right direction to figure this out? Thanks!

I have no idea. Where are the dip swithes located at? I do not have any manuals for this either. That would be great if it turns out to be a dip in the wron position.

Dips.
Look for this on the back side of the motherboard.

Ok, I found 4 bad traces under the battery and soldered jumper wires in place. Now for my stupid question. If you do not have any game cartridges in the upper board, will the system still display just the test screens? I have the game at a friends house and I did not bring the cartridges home with me. I just tried the board in one of my jamma cabinets and I still get the cross hatch screen on start up. I guess what I am getting at is what is the board suppossed to display when no games are in it?

If there is no game in the system it will go straight to the crosshatch screen at power on still, you will need a game before you know if your fix works. Also, as there were bad traces by the battery the chances are the battery is also useless (due to the lithium leakage). I would advise replacing it with a new one so you don't have any problems with saving settings. Games will still work even if the battery is dead btw

The board is working again!!!!!!!!!!!!! I have tried to search for a replacement battery on the web with the original number, but nothing comes up. What battery can be used for a replacement?
