Cracked cases - post office or sellers fault?

I get really pissed when I order a bunch of games and the seller just shoves them into a jiffy bag and when it arrives there are a bunch of loose plastic pieces in the envelope from the cases. If I contact the seller (this has happened numerous times) he usually just gives me "blame the post office" crap. Dunno if the seller/sellers are just stupid and thinks jiffy bags are the ultimate packaging materials or if they just don't care... Can one actually leave negative feedback because of this if the item/items were purchased on ebay?

It is the seller's responsibility to ship the game and have it arrive in the condition he or she sold it as.
A jiffy bag is 100% unacceptable when shipping items such as NGH aka AES cartridges.

I would blame the seller. I work in a Logistics environment and as long as items are packaged properly, you can kick them around. Unless your dealing with glass or fragile items. But as far as plastic, as long as it packaged right, it shouldn't be a problem. The games were probably broken before hand, and they are using the post handler to blame. We sometimes receive beat up boxes from Fedex or UPS, but inside the items are protected because of proper packaging.

You can leave negative feedback, for improper packaging or broken items.

That's my oppinion as well. Actually this has never happened when I've bought AES games (when I do I always make sure the seller will pack the games well). When it comes to Dreamcast games I usually just let it go cuz the cases are not that hard or costly to replace. One time I got a bunch of NGPC games shoved into a jiffy and all games except one or two made it without a scratch (puh). I guess I could have asked for a refund but i wanted to keep the games and they where only like $5 each anyways...

Definitely the seller's responsibility.
My KoF'98 AES cart arrived from HK in a simple envelope (jiffy-bag), and of course the snap-lock case was damaged (I mean HEAVILY damaged). I then left the seller a neutral feedback ("Poor package") on eBay and he gave me a negative...

Here is the idiot.

I should have left him a neg.

I was recently talking about such a topic with another member.

ME:..If I had to ship an AES Game..I would remove the cart from the case and wrap both items up in bubble wrap-separately..leaving the cart out of the case to not have the tray get cracked up by the cart being in it during shipping.

That's the problem, If I leave negative feedback because of poor packaging it's very likely I will get a negative in return :very_ang:

I guess the proper way to deal with this is to ask for a refund and if the seller don't agree then leave negative feedback. Of course it's quite frustrating to get a hold of a games you've been looking for and when you get it your have to return it cuz the seller fucked up the packing job.

Never buy from anyone with a private feedback.

Unfortunately, he hid his feedback after I purchased the game and left him the neutral feed. I remember that, after my neutral, in a couple of weeks he got more or less 5 neg. and then his feedback became "private".

If it were me I would blame the seller. Simply wrapping a cart in bubblewrap is not acceptable way to package a game. Don't get me wrong, I have recieved PCBs in bubblewrap only with no problems but this wasent for stuff I was buying, it was for donations that I would then return.

I personally would either ask for a refund or a discount. If hes not willing to give either then I would then give a negative feedback explaining the situation. I wouldent just give a negative right off the bat, talk to the seller first. Him blaming the currier is not acceptable if he wrapped in bubblewrap only.

With old style cases you can't blame the seller for cracked inserts. They're so brittle they will shatter at the slightest knock because the cart bashes against the insert, no matter how much packaging they have around them. I had a game from Japan a while ago which was well packaged but the insert was totally shattered. You can only blame the post office for throwing it around so the game rattles around inside the case and breaks the insert.

That is a great idea and the only way to ensure a case doesn't get shattered during transit. You'd have to ask a seller to do that though and shouldn't give him negative feedback if he doesn't do it automatically.

UPS pisses me off the most. I think they throw boxes around on purpose or something. I had a package once that had a hole punctured from one end to the next from UPS. Needless to say the item inside had 2 holes in it.

You'd think that ebay would institute some kind of rule that if the buyer successfully paypalled the seller the required sum, the seller couldn't leave negative feedback.

anyone who ships in jiffy bags is fucking lazy and cheap. ANYTHING that isn't a letter or paper you send through the mail should be sent in a box. they are fucking free if you mail USPS priority, i don't fucking get it.

i've gotten mutliple saturn games all crammed into a jiffy bag, sometimes by a fucking miracle they would come unharmed, most times multiple cases would be cracked or shattered.

companies that do this shit fucking suck, boxes aren't that much.

It's sad that some ebayers sell and ship that way.... I know someone who sends the stuff the cheapest way possible even if it means just slapping a postage stamp on the BOX!!!! Like one time he sold an old Star Wars item, he put the Priority stamp on the box the toy was in and mailed it off. He got a negative for it and he responded "You bought what was in the box, you didn't buy the box" Needless to say he has had 4 eBay names and always gets the same neagtives complaining aboot his shipping. But he did pay off his house in 2 years selling on eBay.....

Then you have the PPL that way overcharge for shipping.... I was price checking some Baseball cards I am gonna sell and one guy was charging $15.00 to ship one card!! YES $15.00!!!!!!!

He's obviously being cheap...Like DashK said USPS Priority boxes are free to send them in a jiffy bag with no protection is out and out a crime against you and your goods. If the games are expensive you should at least insure them, and get signature confirmation...Delivery Confirmation isn't always reliable. If you haven't already done so ask for a refund...if he doesn't comply give him negative feedback. The seller should also know when something is fragile and make sure the post office stamps that on the box.

I use to think that too but as I make more sales and read what other peoples experiences are, I find that sometimes you get people pulling some sort of "chargeback" scam.

All the Shippers Fault

When shipping an item I like to watch the first five minutes of Ace Ventura - Pet Detective. He dresses like a UPS drivers and uses the package like a football. :loco:

It especially sucks if one of the larger size white JP Dreamcast cases crack since you will never find another replacement unless you buy a doner JP Dreamcast game.

It pisses me off when eBay sellers try to screw people over with high shipping charges. I have always used flat shipping rates for my eBay auction; but I try to make them as fair as possible. I like to receive the stuff I get off eBay in good condition. I don't mind paying for an item to be well packaged. What I do mind is paying a fee for what I hope will be good packaging, only to have the package contents arrive in poor/broken condition. I say package the stuff you sell like you are sending it to yourself.
