Memory card help please!

First of all Hi, as this is my first post. Apologies in advance if I'm going over old ground, but I have had a look around, and cannot find the solution to my problem.

I recently purchased a jap neo geo aes with a bio chip in it, and when I first started using it it would offer me the chance to save all games played on it. Today I was trying to format the card using a translation from one of these forums (as my memory card menu is in jap). Now I cannot get anything to save. Anyone got any advice?
The translation I used was the following:
1. Card Format
2. Display Data
3. Copy Data
4. Delete Data
5. Username
6. End

I tried to format, but then got to more Jap text, and no matter what button I pressed on my stick the result was the same.
Once again sorry if I'm going over the same old, but I just got my Neo Geo this week and know jack all about it!

There's bound to be at least one person reading this who knows japanese; take a picture of your screen displaying the message.

What happens when you try to save a game as the card dosent need to be formatted in most cases because the game will ask if you want to format it when you first save a game.
