I seem to be having a problem. The screen on my PC is way to wide. Alot of my desktop icons look hidden. When opening internet explorer or firefox the screen is to big. I had this problem before but I don't remember how I fixed it. Ant help would be greatly appreciated. I have XP.

right click on your desktop and change your screen size...is this your first computer?
if not, you might want to think about selling it and getting a see 'n say or something a little less cereberal.

btw, just playing around with you...actually try that first and if that dosen't work try the menu button on the monitor and adjusting horizontal and vertical sizing. hope that helps you out some.

Sounds like you somehow have a laptop resolution on a regular monitor.

Or a dual monitor resolution on a single monitor?
Y'know how you can split your desktop across 2 if you have a compatible card.

I did what the first guy said and it helped a little. That's not the answer I need though. It's not like someone messed with the monitor and adjusted the screen. It just did it on its own. I have to drag the screen left or right to see everything. I can never see it all at once.

Any ideas on what may have caused this?

Set the resolution to a non-widescreen.

1024x768 - Normal
1280x1024 - Normal
1280x800 - Wide
1280x768 - Wide

You know what...it sounds like somebody mest with all the little adjustment knobs or buttons or whatever on your monitor. You know...the ones right on the monitor itself that let you stretch and bend the picture a little bit.

As for how it happened? The settings might get erased during a power failure...or some bored/annoying person could have done it for no good reason.

No, i'm the only one who uses the PC. It just happened. No one touched the buttons on the moniter, ever, until I did today. The buttons were virgins until I touched them today.

Mate, these things don't just happen.

Settings have been changed so that your desktop area is larger than your screen resolution so you have to scroll.

Maybe some kind of nView setting if you have an nVidia graphics card?
