With a lot of people buying !ARCADE!'s converter and AES games getting to be more rare, does anybody see the price of MVS games going up?

They already have, Djinn.. Games that were once selling for $9.99 on Ebay (SS, SS2,
SS3, KOF '94. '95. 96 , etc.) are selling for much more now. The answer to this:
!Arcade! has revived a dying market for the older games. Some people just couldn't
afford to purchase a Neo-Geo cab or SuperGun/MVS board combo and the MVS
cartridges together; they wanted to play these games on their home cart systems without spending too much money in the long run. Even when the older carts become 'hot' items again, I don't foresee the prices skyrocketing like they did 5 years ago. MVS games are in abundance (as you well know) and they will always be available to us at decent prices outside of Ebay.

I am bidding on several MVS carts on ebay--and they are mine!--for same reasons.

I don't see a price increase as of yet, and if it did, it is miniscule. I do expect the price of MVS carts to go up in ebay, but only a little. And that price will eventually go down.

Currently, on whole, I am seeing a price decrease w/ MVS on ebay. It is logical, since as time passes, MVS carts makes less money, and arcade dealers are busy trying to get rid of the carts. The arcade industry in US is not doing that well financially. Only few new titles makes some profit--and it's not MVS. It's understanable, since other home consoles now have the ability to produce games like those in the arcades. And the price will continue to go down, as most MVS consumers are arcade dealers/owners. Only small Neo Geo fans own a MVS system/Super Nova/converter.

Admitedly, SS 1 and 2 (maybe SS 2 goes for around $15) are cheap games, but games like SS 3, KOF 95, 96, usually go for around $20+ for a while now. Infact, about a month-two month ago, KOF 96 were going for $25-$30+ on ebay. The price is going down. For ex, Blazing Star and Shock Troopers 2, that I got only couple months ago, go for less on ebay now, on average. And, you can get the MVS games outside of ebay from sellers like Mdgames, who for the most part, sells the MVS games for the amount he sells on ebay, or slightly more (not including the $1 bids). Also, how many people are going to buy !Arcades! converter anyways? There has to be a significant amount of MVS converter owners (both !Arcade! and non-!Arcade!s version) out there to achieve some measurable price increase, but I don't see that happening.

MVS carts are not collectible in terms of cash value. There are just so many MVS cart out there. And then there are volatibilty of the arcade market to consider (esp now). But I think no one here cares much for that--w/ the exception of the arcade sellers/dealers. I buy MVS carts to play the game, and not for its cash value. Many thanks to !Arcades! for allowing Neo Geo fans to experience the AES/MVS only games for cheap--w/ the exception of newer games, of course.

I think arcade's converter is going to make games go down in price on the MVS. Here is my way of thinking on the matter. Right now you home owners are buying MVS carts, whether you like it or not, and are either having them converted, or are buying converted carts. What this is doing is destroying MVS carts and taking a lot of them out of circulation. By using a converter, the MVS cart is untouched, and when you are done with it, it is resold as an MVS cart. I am an MVS owner, and I have no interest in the home system or the pieces of paper that ship with a cart. Yeah they are pretty, but I would much rather have and play the game. I am just happy that the converter is here and available. Maybe now I will not have to worry about every last MVS KOF 2000 being turned into a US Home cart before I can buy one

haha, anyone else have any thoughts on this?

I have sold 15 MVS converter in the past month. All have worked fine and buyers are pleased with them. Games from 1998 and lower all worked 100 percent. I had never tried new games but I heard you'll get "bank error". I sell the coverter between 220-260 dollars. Thats a fair price for the converter. I've been watching the MVS price and amount being sold are increasing. But not by much.

There is no doubt that the prices will increased very much with the rise of this kind of converters. But with the number of copy of each games(much more than the aes version),I think they will not price as well as the AES version.

I doubt that the price will go up dramaticaly. As you can clearly see on ebay
all MVS games are sold without box, marquee, etc. The complete MVS games however might increase over a certain period of time since they are harder to find, especially older games like Neo Mr.Do, Pop 'n Bounce, etc.

I have to disagree a little when you say that the MVS games won't go up. I think they will increase now that the !ARCADE! convertor is for the most part widely avaliable. When, and if, the convertor comes down in price there will be more and more people wanting to buy the MVS games. I don't think if there is a price increase in MVS games, that it will last very long. It is kinda like the intial wave hits then there are small waves after that until it is calm again. I think there are some people who would rather own a AES cart because they like to look at it and know they own a "RARE" cart than just playing it and enjoying it. I hope that NITD just doesn't suck and that it is compatable with the !ARCADE! convertor. Here a proposition... would someone trade their AES MOTW for an !ARCADE! convertor and a MVS MOTW. HMMM....something to ponder....

From a price point, it is a fairly fair (esp. if it is a Jap AES cart) deal. I would go for it. Assuming that the MVS cart works perfectly.

HOW??? The !Arcade! convertor, while good by all accounts, costs TWICE what my dedicated MVS cab cost!

(Heck, Nruva got his for free, but that's another story)

I got mine off of a webpage I linked to off of an eBay seller. I live in Los Angeles, and east of downtown LA are the predominatly Asian (almost exclusively Chinese) neighborhoods of Monterey Park and Alhambra, a lot of the arcades there import their machines from Japan and Hong Kong and then sell them used for a reasonable price. I bought one, drove over my friends Mazda MPV, threw it in the back, and put it my apartment for $200. Its a four slot with a 29" screen and excellent sound. It has a few small dings, but its in otherwise good condition. These days the price seems to have jumped to about $250-300, but that's still cheaper than $400 for a piece of plastic and wires.
