Interesting bit: it includes a player for all Gradius soundtracks, including the X68000 one.

It s a bit sad there is no Gradius V for a collection... ho... whatever, maybe it will come... PSP needs shooters outside emus

Sounds like the PSP will become another PS2, in this category. One in which you need to import to get ALL the shooters.

It's a bit sad how the US PS2 shooter releases only present just a few games outside the amount of shooters the other 2 consoles, of this generation, has. But if you include the menagerie of JPN-only shooters, it is THE console for shooters.

At least with the PSP, you don't have to spend the money to get an import system, to play them.

Here is some better info from our friends at NCSX...

I may just have to get another PSP (white one this time) With G-n-Ghosts, and Gradius. Heck if they keep this up with the shooters and 2D games, I am certainly getting another one.

Radiant Silvergun needs to come out on the PSP...lets go WORKING DESIGNS get with the program.

EDIT: it also appears that Gaiden is gonna be part of the collection...

It appears that Gaiden may NOT be included:

Konami brings Gradius love to the PSP on February 9, 2006 when they bundle four Gradius games on one UMD. That's Gradius, Gradius II, Gradius III, and Gradius IV. Various online sources throw Gradius Gaiden in the mix but the preorder solicitation from Konami only lists Gradius I to IV.
In addition to all that shmup action, a versatile save feature allows saving at anytime on any game, various in-game options to enhance the challenge, and a bonus gallery full of art, movies, and music from other Gradius games will make it into the UMD. All that Gradius goodness for the price of Y4980 or US$49 from NCS. Preorders ship on February 9, 2006.

Yes, it's nice to see that Konami finally decided to confirm Gaiden in the collection.

It's rather odd not seeing the "Press Start" on the 2-Player side in Gaiden. Also, the Player's handle is listed as "Muteki" (invinsible).

Btw, the game features full fullscreen and original screen sizes/ratio modes:

some original shots:

And the game is single player only, no online nor ad hoc mode.

Crazy. Same reason I own a couple PS2s is the same reason for me to own a PSP.

And fuck Gradius III. Frustration times ten.
