Easy way to convert vga to component or dvi?

What I got is a Naomi 1 that outputs a high res analong vga signal. I would like to use this system on my hdtv's that accept all ed/sd/hd resolutions through component and hdmi (dvi). Since the hdmi port is digital the video would need to be converted into a digital signal, right? Would keeping the signal in analog format and converting it to component be the best solution?

I've never looked at a Naomi, but would something like this work for you?

Yeah, that'd be it, but I need the opposite type of conversion... Back a year or so ago I modded my gamecube component cable to do vga, it was a pretty simple mod by just grounding a few pins and jumpering a couple others on the component cable's encoder chip. I wonder how hard it would be to either a) modify the vga out circuitry of the Naomi, or b) make a little circuit to convert vga to component. It shouldn't be to hard as I won't need a line doubler.

Right now I'm in a digital design course and it would probably give me a better understanding of circuit desing if I actually built something like this.

I'll try and find the page with instructions to modding the gamecube component/d-terminal cable...
