No-CD/dead CPS3 motherboard questions

I've received a CPS3 motherboard that's supposedly dead, and that has a No-CD chip.

A few questions :
- is there a specific reason why a CPS3 mobo would die ? AFAIK there's only suicide batteries on the security carts...
- are there any known differences between a No-CD mobo and a standard one, besides the chip ?
- is it possible to change the game on a No-CD mobo ? By disabling the chip for instance ?
- if so, are all games compatible with it ?

That's all I can think of for now...

Thanks !

no cd mobo...mean that you don't need the cd...the game is preloaded on to the drive( check which game is preloaded..with the seller :annoyed: )...now the hard part is to find the working cart for the preloaded game :p

Yeah, you don't need the CD once the game is loaded into the SIMMs...

But the motherboard looks like a standard one, with the SCSI connector for plugging the CD-ROM drive even if you don't actually need it, and you must also plug in the security cart, which is the same as the "with-CD" version.

On a standard mobo, once the game is loaded, no data nor redbook audio (there is'nt any) is read from the CD, the game just checks if the CD is there, and I suppose the No-CD chip just bypasses this check.
