Panasonic Q question

I own a Panasonic Q and I am wondering if the component out for the Gamecube will also work for movies? I just found out that the optical out will only work for movies and not for your gamecube games. I just want to make sure teh component cables will work for the DVD player before I buy the $50 cables.

I own one as well and Componet only works with the games, which look far better for sure when used! I need to unlock the region on the DVD still.. I think you need a hardware MOD for this?
