CVM2 Free mode

If I have my naomi set on free play, will I still be able to unlock all the charactors or does it have to be on coin? So far on free my exp. points havn't moved.

Unlocking the characters may also be based on credits paid since the idea is to have people pay and play so not only can the secret players can be unlocked but the operator can make money at the same time. Not 100% sure on this though.
