I have a MVS 4 slot unit that I am refurbishing.

This is a project that I started early this summer, but shelved for a bit because money doesn't grow on trees. I'm nearing the point of being able to afford more stuff to throw at my arcade unit.... I wanted to start in the obvious place. Monitor. Recapping and such isn't improving the brightness of the picture, or how long it takes to warm up the tube. A guy I called to zap the crustys (rejuvinate) said he wants $100 to just come out. So, that's the point where I just consider NEW - because it's a constant "what's next" or it's sharp and beautiful all day long. Not a hard choice, really.

It's original spec has it running a 7100 monitor, 25". Wells Gardner's compatible monitor is a 7400, also 25".

Therefore, I am thinking of going with a Wells Gardner model 7400.

I've done some measuring, and I don't think that I can house a 9200 (27 inch, has a VGA port) without modifying the cabinet pretty drastically. It's a half inch too wide, and two inches too tall, which means I'd have to replace the MB shelf, the front, and all back panels. Basically, I'd have to reconstruct the whole damn thing.

Aside from the 7400, what are my 25" monitor choices for this arcade cab? Basically, if I can, I'd like to have a VGA port native and the ability to do multiple resolutions (so that if I get an Atomiswave, I'm golden).

I'm only really familiar with the Wells Gardner line of monitors - that's why I ask the question.

If the 7400 is the only compatible monitor, that's an OK answer, but I thought I'd ask at any rate.

I personally think that wells gardner monitors are overrated (and WAY overpriced).
I can relate about the monitor size issue... I'm trying to make a cabinet that used to hold a 19" monitor, a 27" cabinet  ... needless to say, it's giving me alot of trouble... especially the angle of the new shelf that I put in there. The cheapest way to do it, would be to buy your tube, chassis, and other small things seperate, and make your own multi-sync monitor. it'd probably save you about a hundered bucks or so (depending on where you buy your parts, and if you mess up) You'd also need to have some knowledge of how to assemble a monitor (most important thing to know would be how to discharge it so you don't kill yourself after testing it). One thing to know about combatibility... a monitor is a monitor... as long as it does 15khz resolution(standard) it'll work, and 31khz for high resolution.

We just got some new WG K7400 25" monitors at work and they have beautiful picture. The new K7400's chassis actually look like the older U2000 chassis. We got 3 of them from Happ for less than $1,200 US, so it's not a bad deal really. I generally prefer WG because there is plenty of info online, and the techs will help if you ever have a problem.

I don't know of any triple res monitors like the D9200 that comes in a 25" or less size though.
