I have a 27 inch Gauntlet Legends Arcade Cab and in the upper right corner there is about 8 inches of green on the tube for the cab. Whenever my kids use the blue warrior, he turns green when in this area. Would a degausser coil for tube TV's fix that this issue? I want to make sure before spending money.

Also, when I first turn it on the colors seem dark and then after it is running for about 30 minutes it seems to brighten-up. The Greens, like in the forrest region, you cannot even see and it looks almost black. But, after awhile it brightens up. The rest of the picture once warmed up is perfect.

Pt. 1

Could it be a speaker?

Pt. 2

Sounds like a Cap Kit is needed.

Tooodddy is the resident Monitor Tech... He should know more.

There is not speaker next to it externally unless it is the speaker that is built-in in the top of the cab. Thanks for the help and what is a Cap Kit? Where would I get one and how much is it and how do I install it? Thanks!

On most cabs that I have, whenever you move them, the monitor will need to be degaused. I've heard that this has to do with the magnetic field of the Earth and such. So a degausing should fix your discoloration problem, and a cap kit for your slow warm-up.

If after degausing and the blob is still there, chances are that the alightment ring may have shifted. Broken neck board could also well be the problem.

Thanks all. I ordered a Degausser for 27 inch tubes or bigger. I did move the cab recently, so that may be it. What is a Cap Kit? Thanks!

a cap kit is a bunch of replacement capacitors for the chassis... sometimes, when they get old, they stop working as well and need to be replaced.

Thanks, I bought a Heavy Duty (27 inch or larger TV's) on eBay last night. I will let you know if that was the total fix.

Thanks!

sounds like a degause issue to me. Any time you get a haze of odd colors here and there it's genrally do to the monitor getting some static, happens when moveing over carpet or big electrical storms. Cap Kits are genrally used when color starts fadeing, odd lines, ect.. ect..

Degausser worked like a charm :) But still taking a little to warm up. Are Cap Kits hard to put on? How much are they usually? (I saw that link but want to know more on prices and how hard it is)

If you have any soldering experience, it should be no problem. I've heard that one of the hardest to deal with is the WG 4600 series, and that's mostly because it has a couple daughter cards. Mine improved a ton after the cap kit I did on mine, unfortunately there is some scorching at the daughter card connections, so I eventually want to get a replacement chassis. Prices are USUALLY in the $10-20 range, but look for your specific model to see for sure. I'd offer more detailed prices, but I didn't see your monitor's model number in the thread... :)

Well, I have no soldering experience so that is out. I am not sure what my monitor model is. I will open it up tonight and find out.

If any one wants to earn a few extra bucks and lives near the West Palm Beach area and can do this for me, let me know!

Thanks!

Well... you could always send it cross country to me... ;)

Other than that, the closest *I* would be is in Clearwater for a wedding in April... :D

The Monitor says the following:

NEOTEC
Model No.: NT-2701
AC Rating 110 - 240 VAC
50 - 60 Hz 18A
Date: September 1998

I guess I will have to look in the yellow pagew for assistance. I called a local place and it is $75.00 an hour plus parts. :(

Thanks!

Monitors have insane amounts of voltage running through them, capasators especally, so you probbaly want someone else to do this.

I also found another place that will charge $79.95 to install the Cap Kit and labor. Plus $55.00 if they have to come to my house. Also, he said that the tube may be bad. I cannot adjust brightness on my monitor, but in the menus under colors there is black on the left side for about 4 inches of the screen when the colors are in horizontal-rows on the monitor screen.

That guy is full of shit dude. If you're going to be charged $80 PLUS $55 for pickup, you might as well send it cross country to a member on the board to do it for cheap (cap kits cost chump change... less than $10 in most cases). If I where you, i'd go back to that tv repair shop guy and laugh in his face until he punched me in the face, then sue his ass. Then, I'd spend $10 from the money I won to buy a cap kit, and do it myself :tickled: ... but that's just me.
