So I've decided to take the next step in arcadeness and try to build my own. I'm going by hardmvs's turning an empty cab into an MVS tutorial. So I need a switching power supply but what voltage etc do I need for a 6 slot?

Also on HardMVS it says I need an MVS harness where as most of the others need a JAMMA harness, where would I find an MVS harness?

OK last question for a monitor what type can I use? Do I use VGA, SVGS, CGA, or EGA?

Thanks for any input you don't have to answer all the questions but please clearify anything you know thanks!

An MVS harness is the same connector as JAMMA, it's just wired differently for stereo, game selection, and button D.

Alright thanks so far all I've found that has 15khz in the description on happcontrols is the neotec monitors but they're a bit pricey I'm looking at a Pentranic 25” Dual Mode CGA/EGA Monitor which can display at the resolution the neo geos use. Any comments on brands are welcome.

Now the MVS harness has me worried. Can anyone expand on that? If its too differant from the others I don't think I should attempt that on my first try.

Pentranic are teh suck, get a Nanao (the best!!) if you can find one, Hantarex are decent as well.

As for the MVS/ JAMMA harness, they are basically the same, you just hook up the ends of the wires to different places. Check out the "Jamma vs. Neo Geo Wiring Diagram" at hardMVS:

You can get a JAMMA harness from Bob Roberts:

Ahh thanks, I thought I read somewhere Bob Robberts might be gone cause of the hurricane, but I guess not. I'll have to take a look for an arcade supply store or something around here. Shipping a 90 lbs monitor from US to Canada sounds pretty expensive. Like most places now a days, arcades don't make much money and I wouldn't be surprised if there isn't an arcade supply depot around here though :mad_2:

Thanks a lot I've been set on the right path! I'll be sure to post pictures when its done, even though it probably won't be finished for a year yet. Plan is to make a cocktail cab except it'll be longer (so I can use it as a two person table) and the monitor will stick out at about a 45 degree angle at the end of the table.

Be sure to take some notes from the Neo Cocktail that a member here built. It's fucking ace! Look around in the General or News forums for the thread. He might even still have it in his sig (I have them turned off, so I'm not sure).

Good luck on your project!
