I'm still stuck in old times here! I don't know what the new "hot spots" for this stuff are.

By that I mean, where are the best places to purchase MVS boards, MVS carts, extension cables for controllers, new types of switches and connectors that people are using.

Could someone make a list so I don't have to make a "Where can I get _______?" posts everytime I need something?

Thanks!

number 1 : ebay
number 2 : use the neo-geo.com search function
number 3 : search google.com

then if you can't find an item you wish to purchase ask where to purchase in the general discussion forum, or if you want to buy an item from somone on the boards, post in the wanted forum.

I would say that a very large portion of the remaining Neo Geo hardware (especially in english speaking countries) gets traded or sold on ebay, the neo-geo.com forums, or both.

There are online retailers that specialize in neo equipment like www.japangamesnow.com

best way to find those retailers would be searching here or on google. there are quite a few...

cheers,

Another route if you are a bit more adventurous is to look in the phone book for local arcade distributors and give them a visit. I have been quite lucky and gotten a number of incredible deals this way.

The good thing about buying from local vendors, is the games aren't really a collectible source of fun for them. A game will make money in an arcade, theatre, what-have-you for only so long. People become bored with the game, stop playing it, and the vendor has to put something else in that location. They have already made their money off of a given game, so they then need to move it out of their warehouse.

You come in, the cab is kinda beat up, you talk them down to $150-200, which is not bad for them. If you consider that they paid +/- $1300-2400. Maybe made $1500-4000 on it in games over a year or two (at $1 per play which is what many new games are that's not impossible if the game is popular and in a good location). Then you give them $150 for the old tired remains that are nearly useless to them now.

Bottom line a good deal for you, and over a grand in profit for them. Everybody wins.
