How can I get my Snes to output true RGB?
I've tried connecting it to my tv using my cube's firstparty RGB-cable, but it gives a shitload of dotcrawl (seemed to bypass the rgb-signal and displayed composite).
So I tried putting it in another RGB socket of my tv, that gave me a very crisp and clear picture but it quickly faded to black.

Anyone got some advice?
Thanks in advance,
Smuf

The cube and the snes are wired slightly differently in the av port.On most tvs that have 2 scart sockets only one will actually be rgb active. The first one you put it in would have just given you the basic composite AV picture, the other socket where it faded to black is your rgb compliant socket.

Its not anything thats wrong with your snes as they output rgb straight out of the box(unbless you have the smaller snes 2 as it was removed from those machines).

You will need to get another official cube rgb lead and just rewire the scart plug end for use with your snes.

Inside the cubes rgb scart end is a little pcb with a bundle of capacitors on it.There are 4 on there but you will only need 3.Its a relatively simple mod to do as everything you need is already there in the plug it just needs moving around a little.

I have 2 official japanese super famicom rgb leads. One I bought and it was un-modded and was still wired for a jap scart socket so I had to move them around for use on my TV.The other one I bought had been already pre-done and was wired for use with a PAL snes.I have a spare pal cube rgb lead and for ages I have been meaning to convert it to run on a PAL snes but I just havent had the time(read:'I'm just too feckin' lazy :D')

I'll try to get some pics done of the wiring of the PAL converted super famicom cable and you can just rewire it yourself.

PM me.

So should I buy another firstparty cable (they're quite expensive), or will a cheap third-party one do just fine?

Just open the scart plug and remove the capacitors on the R, G and B wires. (you can also remove the one on the sync wire but it's not necessary)

I did it and it works ;) I even recycled those capacitors to rgb-mod my rf-only Master System 2... :D

(warning: your cable will no longer work on your gamecube after that)

I've removed the resistors and connected the pins and it now works flawlessly with both my snes and my cube. :tickled: :glee:
