okay i have a tradwest (aka great western trading company) supergun and for the life of me i can't get quality video to come out of it. i mean it just doesn't happen. i turn the knobs this way and that and twist the power knob and play with the RGB for hours (i've been at it since 5pm today and it's 9 now) and i can't get it to work right. how can i get good video out of this? and i mean not like stellar video just something that doesn't have bleeding and rainbowing. i mean is it even possible? :conf:

It might just the system uses a crappy video converter circuit...

I'm using this board with my 2slot in svideo and it looks damn good. Probably not better than converted component, but it's still world's above rca.

Are you using composite (rca) to connect your tv? I've seen rca vs. svideo side by side and there is a HUGE difference in quality. Now that I think about it... your rainbow effect kind of reminds me of what the rca signal looked like.

wel i think i figured out the problem. other than the lame RCA plugs i'm using the NTSC/PAL switch is stuck in PAL mode and when i press it to go into NTSC mode it just pops right back up into PAL mode. the switch wont stay down and i'm looking at either taping it down with duct tape or if anyone knows where i can send it to get it fixed i would be much obliged.

you should invest in a new encoder. s-video can be as good as a 50-something-k ngh's rgb out.

I was surprised that your encoder did a better job than the jrok running composite.

I don't think it's a good solution since there is a reason why the switch is not staying down. Taping it won't make it work and will probably damage it.

Yeah me too. I bought this one because it was cheaper. :chump:

In svideo, on my wega, it just makes my sechs fall out. I can't imagine what component would look like...

The Great Western systems are utter trash. A member here bought one cheap and got it not working (loose wires). I got it working and then found that the video output (S-Video is standard on these too realize) was absolute shit. I mean, you would be embarassed to make and sell something like this in my opinion. The connectors are shoddy, the video is crap, it's huge, and the construction is cheap and subpar.

The R2N encoder is super nice for Neo applications and is slightly cheaper than the JROK. As for compatibility, which should be a key feature for superguns, you definitely want to use the JROK though. The S-Video from both is about the same and no matter what you do with either, the composite isn't very good and rainbows a lot.
