I've got a wierd problem with the buttons on my homemade arcade stick. The wiring is seemingly all okay, all the buttons work properly in test mode, and they work with older games like Samurai Shodown 1-2, Cyber Lip, AOF etc. But when I play a newer game (KOF 96, KOF98) theres a problem. I press start, get to the character select screen, choose my team, and when the fight starts I cannot move or do anything.

My theory is that with newer games, the board needs more voltage and since I don't have the 5v lead going to the controller (only ground) it's not enough to work right. I'm probably wrong, but if anyone can confirm that, or give me other possible problems, I'd be eternally grateful. :)

Lets see...

If I remember correctly

When I wired my supergun, I didn't add the +5V line. The +5V line is for the later home controllers, not the arcade. Even my modded sticks don't have the +5V line so that's probably not your issue.

My guess would be that it may be your board not liking larger meg games.

I will check my supergun tonight and get back to you.

I plug in my official Neo controllers and they work just fine. Both on my consolized MV-2F and my MV-1F.

how long is the wire on your custom stick? Maybe it's too long and the neo isn't seeing the signal due to wire resistance?

Are you serious? Did it already happen that a MVS board has trouble with High meg games?

I think one of the mini boards had problems playing the newer releases. Someone made a post about that back in like, 2003, I don't know what the details were.

Gotcha.

I peeked into my gun and noticed that I had added the +5V line, then remembered I had done so to use my neoCD stick.

Bad solder joints can really be confusing to track sometimes.
