AES POWER SUPPLY

Hello

I'm buying an NTSC 110 -120 V (Japan) AES System and live in Australia where we are 220 -240 V. I'm sure I can use a PAL Megadrive power supply on the NTSC AES and it will be fine. I just want to make sure this is 100% correct before I use one. I'm pretty sure an AES I had before was NTSC and it had a Megadrive P.S.
Can anyone please confirm this for me?

Cheers!

I had the same problem when I got my AES.
The Mega Drive psu is fine.

I run my AES on a psu that has these specs.

INPUT: 220-240V AC
OUTPUT: 9V DC 1.2a
and a negative tip.

The Neo power socket can accept up to around 40V so the output voltage isnt really a problem, just make sure its outputting DC not AC lol.

I used a SNES AC to AC psu on my AES when i first got it, I thought I killed it. :p
Even worse, I got a pin adapter and use a 110-120V psu on our 220-240V mains, I was lucky that I heard the sizzling of the psu before I turned my Neo on!

Happy NEO gaming!

Hi 360heelflip,

NO, you cannot use a Genesis PSU (9V 1.2A) on any AES!!!

I have an early jap. NGH (serial# 27240), and these particular NGH systems have a +5V, 3A input. You have to figure out what type of NGH you will receive.

I live in Germany, here we also have 220V, and I got my NGH with a wrong PSU, stated 10V, 850mAh. It has not worked at all. I had build a PSU from an old AT-Power supply from my old computer, I took a +5V and ground. the AT power supply has about 20A, but that doesn't matter.

So all I can tell you is, that you have to figure out what type of NGH you have.

Good luck... Patrick

not completely wrong

:) Yes, there are neos that use a 5v psu and also 9v. I have a japanese neo and mine is 9v. Just like the genesis/mega drive.

I wonder why people said I could use a PAL Mega Drive 1 psu, hmmm?

Maybe I haven't made it clear. I only wanted to say that there is a 10V and a 5V Version of the NGH, and the Genesis PSU will only work on the 10V one.

Okay...? ;)
