hello guys!!
I am having such a sad time with this MV1-FZ .
When I turn it on the following message appears in the screen:

COLOR RAM BANK0 ERROR

ADDRESS WRITE READ
00400000 5555 FF55

Then nothing more can be done. I can change components if its needed but I need to know wich ones.
Any help will be deeply apreciated.
Thanks.

One of your pallette rams has gone bad. It will need replacing. Not sure exactly which one it is, but it is made by sony and surface mount. Do a search for ram errors and there are posts with descriptions of which ram is where for a given board.

Once you have it narrowed down to the two pallete ram chips, you can test to find out which one. Short one of the I/o lines to the ground (lookup the datasheet for a pinout) then turn the system on, if you get read 0055 you found the bad one. If you get read FF00 you found the good one.

Take out the bad one and replace it. Now you're done

cheers,
-DT

I think its possible that the RAMs are ok but some of the lines have lifted given it appears one chip isbt working at all as the error is starting on a boundry.

Every time I read a thread like this, it's always with the video ram. Is there anything special with those components?

Going from those screenshots its possible that some vram is damaged also. I would suggest having a good look at the RAM chips first to see if you can notice anything because like I said before the palette RAM error could be simply due to one of the RAMs not getting power.

TOO BAD

I did tested it for power and all rams are getting power...
I also did short one of the i/o to the gnd and in one chip it gives me some grafx error and in other nothing happens. Guess thats the bad one...

I expect there are 2 ram chips gone like I mentioned earlier. You could still have to change a different one also.

Too bad

Hello again.
Well, I did changed both ram chips and no luck. But I was looking to the lines and did found that th signals tha go to the ram chips come from a pair of ls245 chips.
I was thinking about replacing them. Maybe they are holding the signals. :help:
