I only have one Euro game and it's French. It comes with an English and a French manual. Also, on the outside of the case, there is a large sticker, with French writing on it, pasted over the English writing. (the sticker is on the plastic case, not on the insert itself.) Other than that, I don't know what else is different.

well here are a few of the difference I know of

In the case of the french Manual. From my understanding this was done because france has a policy that video game released in there country must be supplied in there language. I have a super sidekick cart like this although I am not sure how many others were relesead with the dual language manuals. I do not believe that all euro carts will have this.

there are also some games relesed in europe in english that were not released in the us such as puzzled.

in some cases the design is a little different. like world heros 2 with a green background in europe and a red background in the us release.

and of course you have the logo difference, the older US have "bigger badder better" logo while the euro has Neo geo on the spine.

then there is the rare case where the game is actually named and plays different. such in the case of street Slam (the only one I know of for sure)

Us is Street Slam, US leagues
euro is Street hoop, world league
Japan is Dunk Dream, world league

confussing eh?

The US market of Neo Geo carts was slowing down at that time. So the "English" version of Kizuna was released in Europe first.
All "English" carts that are in the US from certain titles are mostly european releases.

For example an other title : Ultimate 11 English version. Is a very good example.
Was only released in small quantities in Germany first, then Austria, and a few smaller countries.

Same goes for the "English" version of elusive Aerofighters 3. It does exist (and i dont mean the NGF insert). But it's production quantity was so small that it is nearly impossible to find it.

And how about the Samurai Shodown 3 cart ?
Same counts for thisone.

You see, the Neo Geo was number 1 selling console and games in France. Alot of people
there still own alot of these games.
The Neo Geo market was even bigger than in the US in France and some other european countrys. But mainly France.

The french instruction manual was cancelled
for all games after mid 1994. You should be able to find alot of the older carts still with their dual manuals (french and english).
I personally have 13 games with dual manuals,
and there are more games that have them outthere.

What is the differnce in gameplay for US / euro street slam? Can this be seen by changing language option on a modded neo?

Also, how do you know what games/versions were released in what countries? Is that information available online somewhere?

know what?

i once started a topic,'t was all about this whole usa or euro thing

there are certain games,
like viewpoint, andro dunos or last resort
just to name a few

where i 'm...like...
lookin at the insert,
i dont see that bastard dog,
so i automatically assume something,
and i go like
"i should be safe forever in the knowledge that them afore-mentioned carts are euro?"

like fuck

heard people saying how both versions to em games exist

cum dog and sine dog

and,as usual,no one really knows the truth

only snk knows,
probably,
if they didnt forget,
and in case they do know,
they are no more

so where do we go from here?

well I do not know of one but I may make one. I actually have a oppertunity to revive my Big Bruno gym site, although now my time is limited and I do not have as much freetime as before (like you can tell from all the posts i do) well actually I'm on the net pretty much 15 by 7 due to my job. I have become a expert in the art of multitasking...exp.

Okay can you do a tracert to the server, tell me where it stops (as I causaly browse this forum

)

anyway lastresort seems fairly knowledgable on the subject. I would assume that you will find a euro version with a french manual. a euro version a us version and a Japanese version of some games. not neccesarrily all four for every game, some may be released in 3 some 2 etc. there is no list right now that I know off.

on the subject of street hoop, the only difference in gameplay other then from where you pick your teams from is the length of the halfs. I believe the euro version is longer. this is from memory though and I would have to check again. And yes you can access this through the mod to see the difference. That is how I found out about it.

Here's some other information rarely seen these days. It's from the Official European Neo Geo Club in the good old days that SNK Europe still existed.

Information can be found here on my page http://verbruggen.telenet.be/NeoGeo/

Visit the Information page. To see some interesting information, including an early
scetch of the Neo Star. And a early tech spec. how it should have been before it got cancelled.

My website will soon have a list that shows
which games came out as european versions.
For the older games it is quite easy.
All "Dog Tag" games are US versions,
a english non-"Dog Tag" insert of the same game shows its european origin.
