Ridge Racers is by far the best IMO. I would go as far as saying its the best racing game out there.

Ridge Racers
Lumines
Hot Shot's Golf: Open Tee

Alot of people wouldn't say Hot Shot's Golf, but I think it's great. Are the ones I'd say. Even though I hear Burnout Legends is alright as well depending on how much you like the franchise.

It's still pretty meh right now, but there are a ton of games coming out that appear to be awesome.

There's a NGPC emulator (for PSP 1.5 of course) but I haven't tried it.

Isn't it the non-colour version emulator and pretty slow/buggy/no sound at the moment? Besides you've got to play NGPC games on the NGPC with the great mini-stick it has.. the D-Pad on the PSP is awful for the games :emb:

I've got Ridge Racer and Lumines, May pick up Burnout Legends 2moro I owned any of the series yet though so it'll be something new for me.

Off topic: whats peoples best scores on Lumines? so far Im pushing 320,000 but after an hour and 10 mins play time my eyes are bloodshot and I get lazy and crazy at the same time then... lose.

Olly.

I think these are considered great by almost everybody

Burnout Legends
Lumines
Minna no Golf/Hotshots Golf
Ridge Racers
Tales of Eternia
Tenchi no Mon
Virtua Tennis
Wipeout Pure

more personal tastes:
Mahjong Fight Club
Mercury (i just love it)
Mojipittan (great words game, simple but addictive)
Star Soldier (i have loads of fun with it... and i dont really know why)
Tony Hawk Underground Remix
Untold Legends in coop (waiting for second one)

So far no platformer imo... but i think the new ghouls n ghost will bridge that :)

can you play NGPC games on a 1.5 firmware PSP?

I tried it not too long ago and shelved my psp after that... The NGPC emu was the last saving grace to keep me from trading the system. God that emu was terrible!

Star Soldier
Ridge Racer
Hot Shots Golf

I think I have put about a 80 hours into Hot Shots Golf unlocking everything. The game is addictive.

Did you get a PSP Charlie?

Anyway, Ridge Racer is amazing. A must own if you like the series.

Ridge Racer is certianly the title shining with 'quality'. Its a bit too simple for my tastes however.

Untold Legends is fun... but multiplayer is pointless and I can't spend money on anything; everything is always 3 levels above what I am.

Lumines is great fun... but I wish there was more than one method to eliminate blocks.

Mercury is fantastic though, it'll be my next game.

The games in general are just too damn expensive for the PSP though. $40 - $50 for a new release for a portable game? Highway robbery. And the friggin things are taking forever to depreciate in stores, there's plenty of games I'd buy if they dropped to < $20.

Star Soldier PSP

This is certainly the most graphically and aurally impressive PSP game I've played to date. OMG I just finished it 10 min ago. Yea it took me about 30 min to do it, whaddia want, its a Schmup, and its designed to be played and finished over and over! And one kick ass one at that. Much more fair than the PC Engine version, everything is polysprite based with polygonal backdrops and 3D everything but it all operates on a 2D plane. The high-resolution graphics are bright, crisp, and intelligently done with all the typical Japanese-type explosions and SFX we know and love. The music is a F**king kicking blend of techno and metal, as you know I find this a match made in heaven. God the final boss is one of the best I've seen (and heard) in a schmup ever. It has unlockables as well. I just wish it had a sound select but maybe one exists by code. This game plays vertically, and while my left hand's fingers kept locking up I didn't really care.

If there is anybody on the fence about Star Soldier, Hudson did an amazing job with it! :buttrock: :buttrock:

Star Soldier is great.

Much, much better than the PS2 version, thanks to the unlockables and extra ships.

Please tell us more about this. I for one wanted this title also, but read that a domestic release was quite possible.

This game rocks, and it is simply one of the best games available for the PSP.

GGXX#Reload plays like a dream. Gone are the control issue that plagued Darkstalkers. With the well-implemented "easy" function ,you can pull off complicated combos without a hitch. Also, the game fully utilizes the PSP's widescreen without strecthing the image ala Darkstalkers, and boy, does it look good.
