A few months back I mentioned that I was getting horizontal lines that ran across the screen whenever music was playing.

Due to a second child coming along, I had to sell it and the buyer was well aware of the interferance. Anyway, he's sent it off to ravengames and they've said that it's missing a video board which is causing the problems. They said that a replacement will cost £350, obviously he no longer wants the machine. It was suggested that maybe the unit wasn't actually grounded for sound. While I know the RGB scart pin is definately not wired up, I'm not sure what needs to be soldered on the actual board itself.

Any suggestions you could give me would be greatly appreciated. I don't want to go through all this again.

Here are the pics

More details plz.

Was the audio pulled from a headphone jack or Jamma edge connector?

I have seen this problem before and its typically from using the speaker negative instead of using the jamma ground for the audio.

The one slot itself isn't worth that kind of money, why would a "video board" cost that much? It's probably a bad video chip, which can be replaced cheaply if you have soldering skills.

I'm getting the machine back at the weekend, so I can post pics then.

That Purple wire (that I circled) appears to be connected to the bottom of the PCB (solder side) to the Speaker Negative pin. Most likely that is connected to the audio negative/ground on your Scart connector (or what ever your are using).

That there is 99% likely to be your problem. Desolder it and move it over to one of the Jamma ground connections.

Problem should be solved.

You can reference this pdf over @ HardMVS for more details of the Jamma edge connector wiring. Follow the Jamma wiring diagram as the one slots use that.

what Todd said. but what would be even better would be to solder the wire to a gnd pin of the power inlet ... or of the power supply's pcb, if it has a built in open frame psu.

i didn't really understand where the 350 came from, but if raven actually sold that beast to you for 350UKP, then you were ripped hardcore. :(

nah, that was raven's charge for adding the new video board and several other things that the system apparently needed...

cheers for the help guys, i'll see where that purple wire is connected to in a minute :)

350 Pounds sounds like alot for any Consolized MV1-C.... Especialy one that Uses RGB.

I sold mine in a Saturn Case with a JROK and Hacked Saturn Controller for $375 USD shipped to England.

Easiest way would be to desolder that purple wire and then resoldered it to any of those 4 ground pins.
