question about the N.G s-video modification. does this mod really provide a better picture? Maybe the best resolution would be found on an analog tv using regular composite hook up.
All modern tvs are engineered with digital in mind, and already have sophisticated y/c separation circuitry. So using a high quality composite cable may provide a better picture than s-video. ???

Trust me, S-Video is newer and better technology than composite. S-Video is better. Of course, component video is king of them all however, which is what I have on my Neo.

BTW, you might want to change your sig, you could get banned for having nudity in there.

RGB is king of them all.

But modern tvs already have 3D Y/C filters that separate the color and luminance automatically. This function is only disabled when watching something in HD or if you turn it off yourself.

The n.g s-video mod would have to be superior to the Y/C separation circuitry found in a digital t.v to produce a cleaner picture.

RF=shitty
composite =ok
s-video =good
component =great
rgb=perfect

i started with composite on a 32" proscan.
then i got a rgb to svideo board. it was the best my 32" rca proscan had.
later i got a neo-bitz rgb to component board and used it on my 36" sony wega.
finally i got an xrgb2 plus and i hooked it up to my vga(vga is rgb with a higher refresh rate) port on my 56" samsung dlp.

my neo is in heaven now.

well if there is a neo-geo heaven ;)

You're right, but home consoles can't do RGB.

What are you talking about? RGB is the native output from a home console. You have to mod it to get s-video output and the composite signal is created in the video encoder chip.

Man, you guys are so quick to jump off the handle about this whole RGB thing.

I think he meant to say is that our TV sets here in the US don't support RGB, so that's really not an option for a lot of us...

We know you Europeans (and whoever else) have native RGB, but over here in the Land of the Free and the Home of Over-Regulated Govenrment, we're stuck with what big business thinks is right, not what consumers want...

Now -- to answer the original question. Yes, SVideo will give you a better picture -vs- composite. It doesn't matter how well your TV is engineered if the signal it's getting is crappy.

Ok, blah blah blah blah blah.
S-Video is shitloads better and RGB is the king.

Composite = kind of rough around the edges and has the rainbow effect on anything transparent.
Crap quality signal means crap quality picture on ANY tv.

S-Video = better quality picure and no rainbow effect.
