(Obligatory disclaimer: "Sorry if this has been posted before.")

I did a Google search for photos of the insides of old arcades from the 80's and I came up with a couple of interesting sites to share:

Retro Arcade

..and somewhat along the same lines...

Coin-Op Warehouse

This third one isn't retro, but fun nonetheless:

Arcades in Japan

---

Anyone else have any links to retro arcades or other inside-of-arcade photos?

Thanks for those links. Never heard of Rough Ranger before, looks cool from the marquee. Looks like some sort of RGS game but I can't make out who made the game. KLOV here I come.

Did you notice that one game at the warehouse called "Rip Off?"

I'm going to have to look that one up. Looks like a spacy/moon adventure type game of some sort. :conf:

..and thanks for those extra links! :tickled:

Don't bother, Rough Ranger is FUCKING HORRIBLE. It's an extremely blatant Rolling Thunder clone made by some Korean company... except it has none of the fun or style of the original, and controls like a piece of shit. Avoid like the plague unless you're a hardcore Rolling Thunder fan that absolutely has to play a clone of it, no matter how shitty it is...

Thanks for the tip. Though I got to see a single screen shot of the game @ KLOV, I thought it might be a good rip off of Rolling Thunder like Codename Viper but if it's not I'd rather save my money for AW Hokuto No Ken or tracking down an L.S.A. SQUAD upright.

Are you planning to buy that as soon as it comes out, or are you looking to catch it after the significant pricedrop?

Well I don't know what the price tag of a devoted AW upright (you know with a certain game installed + Marquee) is right off the bat. But the $400 I was going to spend on Operation Thunderbolt is going towards that now, (since the ppl I was going to deal with just got too backlogged and well this is HNK we're talking about) of course unless an LSA SQUAD upright should pop up suddenly then that would take priority for me. I'm even waiting on building that MX 5000 cab for the time being. I know HNK is slated for sometime in December of 2005, but realistically speaking if all goes as planned I should have $1,800 to $2,000 to work with by the time my 28th B-Day rolls around in April. Otherwise, then yeah... I'd probably have to wait until a price drop. With a baby coming though, that money saved up might end up being depleted little by little.

Currently the "Hokuto No Ken" savings is @ $550.

I'd wait for a price drop, because iirc Neo Wave started out around $1200 for a full kit with the motherboard. Plus then you have to buy a cab... If you're wanting a real Atomiswave cab make sure you look into the offical japanese cab. It's a Taito Egret 3 (much better than the homo black ones used for Sports Shooting in America).

Egret 3's may be a little hard to come by state side. Very nice cab tho....
:drool_2:

Once Hokuto comes out for AW, might as well consider my megalo (41" screen and supports high res) a dedicated Hokuto machine cuz it's never comin out. :D

I don't know if all megalo's do high-res but the 410 does. I've got my AW setup on high-res on it and the picture is pretty amazing in person. There is a vga looking connector on the outside of the cab. Haven't tried it though.

I'd probably cream myself if I had a vga port on a ~40" screen cab.

That's a cool little game. Pinball Pete's in East Lansing has one them I played over the summer.

Since we're on the subject of arcade/warehouse pics, here's a link to the pics I took of a warehouse raid (posted this before but I dont' think it was in arcade central).

Matsu is getting 11 of the Egret 3 atomiswave cabs in his next shipment which should arrive some time in the next week or two. Here's his email address > gamemachine2003@hotmail.com He's a great guy to deal with, and you won't find better prices anywhere (especially if you do local pickup) He's located in Rowland heights, CA so give him a buzz.
